20:01. My Senior year however I ended up not caring about my times in XC, so I never made it into the teens. It's a long story, but at least I still run these days. If I were to go back now though my times would probably be a lot better, since I take running and my health a lot more seriously. In hindsight I really miss those days. Anyway, good luck with the sport, OP.

Only regret is I didn't play more of it.

If you haven't noticed by now, I'm sort of a jerk.

What state do you live in? My best is 20:20.
The meets are fun when you're not running, especially states (at least for us, we make huge flags out of bedsheets).

I was a senior this year so it was my last season on the team.

I'm southeast PA.

At an invitational we went to, there was a DJ and our entire boys team after the run started dancing, then a bunch of girls from other teams joined us in dancing.

We made complete fools of ourselves, but we had a damn good time.

Oh. When I read it was your first season I assumed you had a few more ahead of you. Well...good luck with running in general then?

Weird. I was from PA also. The Invitationals were quite a lot of fun, especially if you get time with some of the girls from other teams. Meets were always a hassle though if it was away. If it was home you could at least chill after school waiting for it to start.

Running from the fuzz wit some grams in my pocket, hopefully.

I don't run. I have flat feet so I get shin splints nearly every time I try to run long distance. That's why I bike long distance instead.

My best time was 22:42 and I've still got three years to go thankfully. This year my xc team won states and had the best runner in our division. So, this year was pretty fun! Also seems everyone in here has pretty decent times.

Same here I used to run but I started getting shin splints I'm into biking now.

I've never run the 5k, but my friend runs it in just barely over 15 minutes.

That is a negative.

Yea, I'm that fast.

Very nice. Asked about state because in a place like Florida or Illinois, it's easier to get a faster time due to not having to deal with as many hills. The best part of any meet is the part web you're not running.

Not an XC runner myself but my brother is. He ran a 18:34 his Freshman year and this year he ran a 17:10 so he's doing very well and he hopes to get a 16 by graduation.

-The Nasty Officah-

I'm kind of surprised with the amount of XC runners on the Flood, I thought we were a small bunch.

Anyway, I'm trying to break the stereotype that, "all good XC runners are skinny little -blam!-es." I'm 6'0 175 pounds with a muscular build and my fastest time this year (junior year) was a 22:17. I do have to admit though, when I run in races I feel like if I could catch up to the people in front of me I could snap most of them in half. loltwigs.

  • 12.31.2012 12:59 PM PDT

For my first year (and being overweight), I really liked my best time, which was 27:07

Well that stereotype is mostly true. In my school, literally ALL of the XC runners (and I'm not exaggerating.... ALL of them) are skinny as heck. None of them have any muscular build but then they go off acting like they have huge ass muscles and they go off taking swim suit shots of themselves thinking they're all macho.
