But we do agree that it is a really great piece of story telling right?
Oh of course, it's a nice step above the usual game in regards to story. But that's all that it is, a nice story. It's a good story about a character and a series of events, it isn't a good meta-story, critique of a genre, or commentary on the player. And that's not based on experience so much as it is the construction of the game and story itself.

My third montage!

Everyone, as there are not any "correct" choices.

Posted by: petarded2I think the important thing is that it fails on any meta-level in its goal as perceived by you because the player is an observer to Walker's story as Adams and Lugo are. You're kept in the dark about what's actually going on with Walker as much as his squadmates.
well, there's an issue: spec ops is a interactive game, not a film. and it's a game that's supposedly *about* choice, but has almost no player choice to be found. and it directly criticizes the player for "choosing" to not turn back or "choosing" to finish a level.

in short: i agree with the game's deconstruction of *walker*, but the criticism of the *player* is pretty shallow.
