I disagree that the gaming industry is falling. Sales numbers in nearly every category are up YoY.

The population is also growing, what is your point?

Sometimes I am tempted to quit gaming. I can no longer play without seeing ponyphags, horrendously bad teammates and mexicans.

Gaming community, I want you to know that you suck.

This is a zionist plot by OP to get people to quote him!

I can't take an opinion seriously when it bashes on company about hurting the industry and then plugs steam sales as one of his points.

I don't need you to take anything seriously because you're only here to bash one point that I made with nothing to back you up.

No, I read that and stopped reading. Steam sales help the consumer not the industry, thus plugging steam as an example for MS to stop hurting the industry is not only misinformed, it prevents me from wanting to see what else you have to say.
valve does not set the sales, the publisher sets the sale price and can choose whether or not to sell it at a discount or not....

Wasn't taking a shot at Valve in any way, shape or form, was simply pointing out that his use of Steam as an example makes no sense in this context. Pushing discounted software doesn't help the industry.

ME2 was known for stupidity and being retarded

The game industry fell as soon as FPS' like Halo and CoD became popular.

The centerpiece to your argument is that the gaming industry is falling. It clearly is not. Its thriving if anything.

Stick to Nintendo if you want games that are actually finished before they get released.

All 360 titles are half-assed betas sold to the public as final products. All good quality content is now left out for the DLC.

Walks into wild thread.

DUN DUN DUN DUN DUN DUN...

A wild opinion appears!

"Oh look at me I can use memes to talk down to people, I'm so cool".

"Oh look at me I get offended really easily."

You're the one getting offended not me.

*laughs*

Obviously.

Thriving in sales, but not in creativity.

Just because sales are up doesn't mean it's doing well. Just as the number of people born doesn't mean the human race is thriving.

Why Bungie, why would you do this?! - Halo Community

Minecraft was, unfortunately, the last new "awesome" game I've played. The only release I got this year that wasn't a disappointment is X-COM, and there's quite a skill gap to it. (I am still learning the ins and outs of the game).

Currently, the console devs really need to learn that nobody wants to dish out another 50-100 dollars for a console add-on to play a handful of mildly entertaining games.

Units sold =/= to money made. Yes sales surge at lower prices, but publishers make less, and sometimes take losses. Once again, pushing discounts on software doesn't help the industry, it helps the consumer. Buying games at full price helps the industry.

Actually, population is an indication of health. The industry is growing and growing more diverse. There is almost no comparison to be made between the gaming industry now, and the one of the 1980's.

Yes, it does mean that. If the human population was near extinction, it would be far from thriving, and us being the mammals with the most population shows we're thriving.

Except people buy all that.

People buy the most stupid things when they have money and are socially awkward.

You're looking at it the wrong way. People who wouldn't have bought any games in the first place are now becoming regular customers. It's about increasing your customers not about squeezing every last -blam!- penny out of two people.
