Guide to immortality : Sleep with Life

I had a pretty big time thread once.

Here's me bragging about it.

Did anyone else find the game to be incredibly disappointing? Yeah I know it's sad but the story was totally mishandled, really from episode 3 on. TellTale must of gotten desperate and went into "kill off everyone in some way" mode. No death was preventable at all (Yeah Ben's was but it lasted all of 20 minutes) and we're left with a story that ends in a pit of nothing.

We were never given time to grow in a relationship with Carley/Doug because they had to die for no reason. I guess this was to emphasize how everyone goes insane in a "world goes to -blam!-" scenario, but why kill off a strong character like Carley so early?

I didn't care for Larry but they never gave a real reason why he hated Lee. He died way too soon.

I guess they were trying to leave a hole for Lilly to come back, but it doesn't matter now. With Lee being dead nobody is alive that knows her but Clementine, and they didn't have much of a relationship.

Mark showed up randomly for episode 2 and then died within 3 chapters. I honestly I didn't care when he died.

Ben....honestly a pointless character from the start who for some reason TellTale decides to blame for every death. Up until he finally stood up for himself in episode 5 he pissed me off. He was so clearly a scapegoat for everything and they wanted to push your buttons and see if you would save him.

Kenny and his family...well. Duck's death was forced. I killed the walker before he even got bit but to push the story it didn't matter. Katjaa basically -blam!- Kenny over. I understand losing your kid is a pain that I hope to never experience, but you can't do that to your husband, and she did not seem like a person who would. Then we have Kenny. I hope you saved Ben or his death is stupid as hell. Even with Ben it is, because the guy who supposedly "killed" Kenny's family is now his BFF. They needlessly took him out. Kenny also had poor development. He went from being a guy who could fill the role of Lee's sidekick to all out dick, and then back again. I had no idea whether I liked him or hated him.

And finally we have Lee's death. Wow. I spend the whole game playing as this guy who I grew to like, and we have to have him killed at the end over a bite that didn't even have to happen. Lee was the story. I understand Clementine was a huge part too, but without Lee there is no character to save her. Lee had depth, a lot could have been explored but wasn't.

And then we even have the survivors. Clementine had to survive, but a 9 year old all alone? Killing Lee left her with nothing, and that is a cheap way to make a sad story. Omid and Christa...does anyone care? They were thrown in at the end and you were pretty much forced to send Clementine to them. I never even really knew them. Why add 2 characters at the last minute anyway? Because you killed off the whole group for no reason?

This game in my eyes was GOTY material up until I started episode 3. They rushed everything. We never looked for Clementine's parents so to fill that hole they throw them in as walkers. I don't mind people dying. It's the apocalypse, not everyone can live and a happy ending is impossible. But Jesus Christ I feel like I wasted my time playing this as nothing I did will matter in season 2. All those decisions that supposedly mattered died with Lee, and a lot also died when you killed off everyone else. I would have preferred Lee and Clementine just survive then.

For a point and click game I thought it was ok. I just hope they abandon this whole story and give us more choice.

Yup, I agree. I enjoyed the game, but there was so much wasted potential with the characters they killed off. What's the point of a decision based game when no matter what decisions you make the final result is exactly the same? This is my one gripe with the game.

Also, what the hell was the point of the homeless guy who joins you in chapter 3? He's made out to be a significant character, then gets nonchalantly killed off five game-time minutes later before you even get to know him. WTF?

The game is simply amazing, but I have to agree on that.

I loved almost every character in some way and felt bad about their death, but I was disappointed to see that you can't save anyone really. Illusion of choice. Every time you do save someone, (s)he is randomly killed in the next episode anyway.
No matter what you do, the only survivors are Omid, Christa and obviously Clementine. Others are forced to end up dead or have an unknown fate.

It's a tale of loss and the end of the world and I think the fact that you can't save anyone for real is the best part.
It gives you the feeling that you are helpless, and hope is gone.

Not too shabby for a zombie apocalypse.
Fair enough...

no its legit, i used coordinates, set weapon timers the works.

I was very disappointed. I played it the day the first episode was released (before the sheep came along thinking it was the cool crowd) and I thought it was incredibly boring.

I am Brosidon, King of the Brocean

The story itself was great, I just wish my choices had more of an impact.

Ah yes I forgot about Chuck. I was hoping to dig deeper into what he was but alas he suffered the same fate as everyone else.

Call me Stu

Agreed I stopped buying the game after episode 3 and just kept to watching peoples playthroughs online as it just didn't sit well with me as it just looked like they were cutting too many branches off the tree to the story.

I'm 23, I have a house, dog, girlfriend, job and I have no interest in any fanboyism so if you're thinking about sending me a childish PM, don't be surprised when I don't call back.

The game was actually the best experience that I have had in years in terms of video games, the story was fantastic and had me engaged all the way, but reading through that I now feel the same way.

Damn you OP!

I had a great time to episode 3. One I would say was one of my greatest video game experiences. I just felt they went in the easiest direction possible story wise (Killing off everyone and making easier dialogue at the end). Even with the faults I still am looking forward to a great season 2 with a good budget.
