Subject: Official thread for reasons why some of us don't like Halo 4.

Posted by: Rokklaggio
I'm guessing us Halo 4 lovers can make a "Reasons we love Halo 4" thread, but I'm also gonna guess it will be derailed by those who hate it...
No suprise there, given the numerous attempts at derailing this thread by people who like the game.

It's definitely a two way street, and I personally applaud the OP for attempting to keep things civil and encourage people to dig a little deeper.

Remember Elk

Buttons? I love buttons!
Oh wait, not I don't. Quicktime events were invented to make ''cinematic games'' able to slap ''game'' into their advertisement instead of ''b-movie''.
They should die before they become obligatory to all games.

But yeah, I agree with this list down to the letter.

The sun: Too bright. Just too bright in the game.
And here I thought BF3 had overpowering glare.

  • 12.31.2012 5:44 PM PDT

What a waste....

The only thing I'll say about Campaign was that the buttons were a -blam!- on legendary.

Multiplayer is actually very fun. I'd rather have everything unlocked and have no random weapons, but overall I still enjoy the game.

Forge and File Share are fails.

Ordinance drop is just, wow. Not only is it a problem for map movement but it is also random. Each player in the game has different 3 things to choose from.

Underlined the words in that sentence that have no meaning nor connotation, and are just used by people who simply dislike a feature but wish to sound more intelligent.

It's been nearly 2-3 months. Can't you get over it already?

I like Halo 4, but:

-Boltshot is OP
-DMR is slightly OP
-Customs Games are bad
-They butchered the Commando helmet (It was my favorite helmet from Reach)
-Ravine not being in Matchmaking
-Female Spartans look ridiculous

-blam!- Was that actually blammed out? Or did I just type it? You'll never know.

It had the same core gameplay from ten years ago.

What a waste....

Problem for map movement meaning it changes how people move around the map and how they play the game. It tells people to camp because they can stand in one place and still get better weapons. Normally in Halo you have to move. Random being the weapons are random that drop.

  • 12.31.2012 6:03 PM PDT

Hmmm, I don't know what to say...

In forge, there is such a wacky object limit. It only allows you to place only a certain amount of objects from one category, even if you have plenty of money left. For example, if I spawn all the double walls, there won't be any single walls left. I have to improvise.

The game just feels unfinished. There's so much that's lacking feature-wise in every aspect. It feels like it was made just for the sake of there being a game titled, "Halo 4." Others here will for sure specify the lack of custom game options.

Seriously? Every multiplayer game designer is laughing at you right now.

Read up, son.

I love how you totally just skip over the part where people have opinions and deduce that if we like the game we must obviously be clueless.

  • 12.31.2012 6:25 PM PDT

I definitely agree with your UI complaints and most of what you said about multiplayer. My biggest problem is that it doesn't give you a reason to keep playing. With Reach, one had to not only level up to get armor, you had to save up and spend your credits, which gave you a reason to shoot for commendations and wins.

With H4, you just get the armor when you rank up, and the armor that you don't receive from ranking up is received through maxing out certain commendations, which can take an excruciatingly long time. In my opinion, it isn't worth wasting time trying to unlock them because most of the armor looks horrendous anyway.

EDIT: Seeing the enormous amount of flaming going on here (a page and a half showed up in the time it took me to type the previous paragraphs), I think I should mention that I do like the Campaign along with Spartan Ops, with the exception of the game's ending.

What house has a rocket pod, has legs, and has a long narrow barrel that probably shoots something powerful?

Sounds like you're describing the lower half of my body, actually.

The flood can't so I decided to make a official thread, to try and stop making new threads about Halo 4 every single day and hour.

I'm really sorry if you think that way. I don't know where I typed or made you feel like the people with the opposite opinions are clueless.

"There's a very fine line between not listening, and not caring. I'd like to think that I walk that line every day."

Pre-game lobbies with uneven teams

Happened very, very often to me.

I loved the campaign. I saw nothing wrong with the AI. Yeah, maybe too much button pressing, but that means you get to see Cortana's boobs more trololol. Spartan Ops is bleh, Customs, its more restrictive, and forge is balls compared to Reach. Other than the imbalance of precision weapons and join in progress, Im fine with MP.

This reminds me of the JIP system that causes the game to become even less competitive and less reason to shoot for wins. I will add this to the op.

Remember, grammar is the difference between; "I helped my uncle Jack off a horse." And "I helped my uncle jack off a horse."
Hyperlinks, you know you want to click 'em

All of the reason why I hate it have already been said by others... The OP pretty much sums it up.

Why Bungie, why would you do this?! - Halo Community

The multiplayer is unbalanced, most previous mechanics have been messed up, and overall the game added nothing new or exciting.

  • 12.31.2012 11:33 PM PDT

War Games menu music is incredibly annoying after a short amount of time...One song, that isn't really much of a song...Annoying repetitive noises.

Saying that "the story is bad" and giving no actual reason as to why is just foolish. I will hopefully remain neutral here, but tell me why it is bad.

The story was not explainable to people who never read the books or watched the terminals. You shouldn't need books or terminals to understand the story or the main characters in the story. The story isn't strong enough to hold itself up.

You have a point. I liked halo 4 but I will not insult anybody or be a blind fanboy. But why should this affect me if I know the lore and the story behind it? And why should I care for the kiddies that dont know whats going on? Since I knew, I enjoyed the story alot.

You do have a point, but if you did read/watch everything, it is a very strong story.
The whole thing about chief being "the chosen one" was kind of built up from halo 3 IMO. Guilty Spark even says- "you are forerunner."

Enough with this. Master Chief is not the chosen one. The librarian mutated and evolved chief's dna so he could stand a chance against the didact. What exactly it did to him we dont know yet except that it made him immune to the composer and it made him 2 feet taller. If you want to speak about chosen ones then take humanity. But they've been the chosen heirs of the forerunners and weve known this since CE.
