Subject: 1st person writing vs 3rd person.

Everything is proceeding as I have forseen.

Which do you prefer to read first or third person view points?

On the whole I prefer third person novels however I will say that I feel that first person is a much more personal experience and can therefore be far more moving and powerful.

Which do you prefer flood?

Secret Option: 2nd person.

  • 12.31.2012 4:29 PM PDT

I like it when a good author combines the two.

Neither is inherently better.

Secret Option: 2nd person.

Writing in second person is the same as writing in first person.

c'est depends

  • 12.31.2012 4:30 PM PDT

I have read many, many novels that have used both very effectively. I can't pick one over the other.

Disregard Females, acquire currency.

I prefer 3rd person as for me it helps better connect with the story. When I read it as first person that it is just not the same. Sorry.

  • 12.31.2012 4:30 PM PDT

I generally prefer third person narratives.

They each can be done well so I don't prefer one over the other.

Hey, uh, if you like vs threads, then check out this little group right here, if you have the time. It's pretty fun, just hop right in.

I prefer third person. Easier and I don't have to describe things as much.

No, that's first person.

Second person is somebody else describing what you're doing without using 'I'. Such as, 'You wake up,' 'you open the door,' 'you go to work,' things like that.

What do you guys think about 1st person writing in the present tense? I'm not keen on it, in fact I dislike it. It seems like a commentary that the character is giving as they are thinking or performing things. Not my cup of tea.

3rd person allows the writer to switch between the perspectives of different characters much more fluidly, which is useful when you wanted to see things from the antagonist's perspective. First person is good, but you have to have a very interesting character for it to work. The Dexter novels are a good example of first person done well.

Bones of my enemies.

Reported.

1st person, different viewpoints/characters.

iPhone 4S 64GB Black.

I'd much prefer to read a novel in the first person over third person any day.

  • 12.31.2012 5:14 PM PDT

Do you really want to know?

I like both.
