Frankly, I think it would be great if bad members were eradicated on the mains.

Thankfully you're not in management.

Thankfully for you and dmg, yeah. Most of the rest of us wouldn't care.

I'm curious as to why anyone but a bad member would think this was a bad thing. Leave aside the question of how you'd determine who the bad members were - why would it be a bad thing to get rid of them?

If we're leaving out the question of how you'd determine who the bad members were then I think that it would be good to get rid of them.

You imply a level of control over Halo: Reach matchmaking that we no longer have. Or, in your vernacular, it isn't our shiznit anymore.

Definitely for the "diversity". It also helps to have the mains around when the groups I'm in are a bit slow.
Diversity is the main reason for me. Private groups are a little small.

I haven't seen an active group in forevers.

Thankfully there isn't some ridiculous sears list for the mains, either. We'd lose a lot of great members just because of some ridiculous disagreement or butthurt-ness.

Frankly, I think it would be great if bad members were eradicated on the mains.
And what constitutes a "bad member"? Someone you don't like? Someone who you think posts stupid stuff that you don't like? What?

The mains are more open and professional. No group beats the unbiased moderation that Bungie gives, while still being open for all members new and old without being a complete mess. Once Bungie ships their next game the mains will be even more engaging (the mains are surprisingly active in Bungie's darkness).

IMO groups are more of an add on for bigger discussions with more experienced members. Basically groups of members who have gotten to know each other and decided to get to know each other more while staying on the home site.

I'd say that the difference between the mains and groups (besides moderation) will not be very large right now seeing as though without a new game floating around the only people here are big Bungie fans and/or are those who have been here a long time and think of it like a home forum.

Please stop complaining about the 'death of a loved one' it's my job. They probably deserved it anyways. Here's a warning, if you keep making pentagrams out of the neighbors livestock I will personally come to your house and kill everyone you love. Now leave me alone, I got to get back to work.

So much pointless drama in this thread.
I like the mains more because new members circulate, lots of activity, funny alts who say crap because they have nothing to lose.

Ehhh sorry, but no, the group you are thinking of does not beat Bungie's moderation. No group has or ever will unless its a group where Bungie selected mods are actually the moderation there (and even then they will not work as hard as they do here). While the moderation in the group you are thinking of is nice, it still won't be as good as the mains. The mods here have to be very carefully selected, for fear of the sites name being tarnished and Bungie actually losing customers and money.

To keep it simple:

1.) Drama with private group moderation=Who cares, in fact it can even give more popularity. Obviously you'd hope moderation would deal with it, but if they screw up its not that big of a deal.

Drama with actual Bungie moderation=A much more stressful process. So the moderators have to be top notch.

Not mentioning the drama since that can be kind of opinion based (although come on, with a groups name plastered everywhere because of drama its going to get more people), there is still this next point.

2.) IIRC admittance into the group I believe you are thinking of requires approval. There aren't any LOLJOHNCENA members getting in. Bungie moderators must deal with everyone from just signed up and probably didn't even read the rules, to grizzled ancients, to alt spammers on top of the fact that mains (especially when the new Bungie game comes out) will be more active. A LOT more work. The group has to deal with half the trolls the Bungie mods do, and more work means more experienced, more professional, more everything really (expect maybe relaxed...).

Not meant to offend but its kind of silly to suggest a close group of people has better moderation than a company that has jobs, money, etc on the line.

Does the stream lead to a better river? Perhaps.

But I'm comfortable here.

Groups are just for circle jerking.

Groups are nowhere as active as the mains.

If I want to post something not allowed on the mains I'd rather do it on reddit.

Groups are boring to me. They don't fulfill my discussional requirements as aptly and often as I like. I also find mains to be a bit more convenient to posts in, rather than searching down the right group, and FINALLY getting to posts, especially since I have so many other boards I frequent.

Don't forget, "anyone that intimidates him".

"Bad" is subjective. Most of the members that you think are bad are actually hilarious.
