No I'm bloody well not. I'm Scottish, screw being called British. Scottish ftw!

Please, leave. We'll be better off without having to subsidise your inadequate, hard to maintain infrastructure & without having to subsidise you, as you pay less than you receive.

On another note, those are nothing to be proud of and I don't really care.

''Hell is other people.''

I'm pretty sure there's no such thing as a "best year to be British".

I'm further down. Couldn't care less about Aberdeen, Dunfermline or anywhere else. I simply hate being called british due to the fact that so many mistake it to simply be English. Being called Scottish separately helps to avoid that problem.

It's funny how little Scots know when it comes to what benefits they get because of England including Wales and N.Ireland.

England is the bread winner and the political/military might of the union, I wonder if your kids would enjoy paying for University or to use the bus and free NHS.

Probably not.

So you'd forgo all the economic and political advantages of being a part of Britain for the petty reason that some tards think that 'Britain' = 'England'?
lawl. Most of the Scots (well technically every 'Scot') aren't even native to Scotland anyway so lord knows what you're all patriotic about - unless you're a highlander its not your homeland

Those are just idiot's though, and to be fair 3-4 different names for 1 island will confuse many.

Also to add to the confusion England was the name put on most international documents until it was changed to the full UK title.

See above post. I simply dislike being called British due to the mistakes that go along with it. I'm well aware of benefits etc but I do think that you're overly proud of being English and to be honest I think it's damned annoying. Don't generalise all Scots as ignorant to what goes on. I could easily land some good generalisations about the English too. Though I'd prefer to avoid arguing because it won't end well on the Flood.

I consider myself "British", even though I'm an American national; My heritage is entirely from the UK, and I associate strongly with that.

I saw it after I posted so I replied correctly.

Also im British before English I would rather be in a powerful union which has done much through history together just to break up for what reason? Nationalism?

So what people make mistakes they clearly don't know the countries name, it's like British calling the US "America" despite America being the continent.

  • 12.31.2012 7:28 PM PDT

i will never understand patriotism. at all. i mean for some unknown reason i get caught up in it sometimes and actually feel pride for something a fellow brit did. but then i sit down and think why, and i dont have an answer.

Hold on, it seems you're implying that I support that referendum of independence. I do not. Even if we have control of some oil in the North Sea attempting independence is foolish. I think there's a small chance that we could build a good infrastructure and stabilise it at this time or in the foreseeable future.

I am not exactly patriotic, I hold no pride in my country and nor do I support a lot of its politics. As I said I simply dislike the confusion that comes with being called British. Don't make such assumptions from someone saying that they dislike being called a certain term.

When the UK can survive without having to hold the US' hand, then we'll decide whether its "good to be British".

You know, most of the confusion between British and English comes from over here - that is, stateside - and even I get upset when I hear it because it's not correct (I'm perpetually disgruntled with the stupidity of those around me).

I can understand your argument, but I don't know if it's worth making such a big deal because a few asshats an ocean away can't be bothered to know their geography.

then gtfo

FYI: Its a drink not unlike gravy that is associated with Northern England. You have it with a Meat & Potato pie at a football match.
On a freezing cold tuesday night watching your team away at Barnsley there isn't much that will warm the cockles of your heart like a pie and a bovril
