So you'd forgo all the economic and political advantages of being a part of Britain for the petty reason that some tards think that 'Britain' = 'England'?
lawl. Most of the Scots (well technically every 'Scot') aren't even native to Scotland anyway so lord knows what you're all patriotic about - unless you're a highlander its not your homeland
Hold on, it seems you're implying that I support that referendum of independence. I do not. Even if we have control of some oil in the North Sea attempting independence is foolish. I think there's a small chance that we could build a good infrastructure and stabilise it at this time or in the foreseeable future.

I am not exactly patriotic, I hold no pride in my country and nor do I support a lot of its politics. As I said I simply dislike the confusion that comes with being called British. Don't make such assumptions from someone saying that they dislike being called a certain term.

You know, most of the confusion between British and English comes from over here - that is, stateside - and even I get upset when I hear it because it's not correct (I'm perpetually disgruntled with the stupidity of those around me).

I can understand your argument, but I don't know if it's worth making such a big deal because a few asshats an ocean away can't be bothered to know their geography.

I feel proud that my ancestry is Irish, and that I'm not British.

Concur. More beer, less rain.

Meh, it's not a particularly massive deal but damn, it really grinds on you after a while.

I consider myself "British", even though I'm an American national; My heritage is entirely from the UK, and I associate strongly with that.

Drink Bovril?
If not, gtfo

I've never even heard of that. Even if I wanted to, I probably couldn't get ahold of it.
Don't worry I heard of it but never had it.

Coming from someone who's 100% English (as far as I'm aware), I've never even heard of Bovril.

I am alpha, i am omega.

I am the last of the primes.

Liverpool ftw.

The other thing you have to keep in mind is when people say England and mean Britain (or, as I prefer, United Kingdom, because Britain and Great Britain are technically Geographic or Political terms, neither of which is correct), they mean Britain.

99% of the time an American is just ignorant (period) of the distinction and doesn't mean anything more by the statement. I obviously can't speak for everyone, but that's probably the case most of the time.

That's the thing. It's probably a local drink. I'm sure I could find it in an import store - if there were such thing as a British import store - just like I'd never seen a Ramune soda until I went to an asian market.

Hey the US never told you to speak. Do you want me to call an adult?

Well, technically Britain's the adult. It was just a terrible parent to America.

Well it was hardly the British empire. England was top dog. So unless you want to share in the credit for being the brutal taskmaster of three quarters of the globe, yes, the English empire.

Well it was the British empire. And Quite a lot of these places that got there independence are -blam!- holes now. Like Zimbabwe and Jamaica

I'm not starting up an argument about the pros and cons of being a British colony. All I'm saying is they had a reputation for being heavy handed, and it ended with a lot of their territories rebelling. If people were happy with their position, that probably wouldn't have happened.

I can't recall Jamaica being a -blam!-hole. Looks fine to me.

I can agree with Zimbabwe but that is thanks to one that shall not be named.
