Well it was the British empire. And Quite a lot of these places that got there independence are -blam!- holes now. Like Zimbabwe and Jamaica

Canada and Australia are doing ok
It was the Kenyans fault that Kenya got -blam!- up, and Hong Kong and Singapore are doing great.

Zimbabwe (or Rhodesia) was k until Mugabe -blam!- with the whites - then it went balls up

Well it was hardly the British empire. England was top dog. So unless you want to share in the credit for being the brutal taskmaster of three quarters of the globe, yes, the English empire.

I'm not starting up an argument about the pros and cons of being a British colony. All I'm saying is they had a reputation for being heavy handed, and it ended with a lot of their territories rebelling. If people were happy with their position, that probably wouldn't have happened.
Meh i guess it was hard trying to control as much territory as possible and still playing nice

That's true, but the simple fact of the matter is they believed themselves superior. Not necessarily genetically, but simply the fact that they were on top. They were the empire, not the colony.

And it is hard to manage that much space, period. I think land area is the United States' number one problem, and the reason that it will fall.

Other former British colonies like New Zealand and Malaysia are doing great too.

Weve already established Sydneys fireworks over the harbour is more entertaining.

They set up the same fireworks over a couple different spots in the harbour and set them off in synce so everyone on the waters edge can get to see it.
