''Hell is other people.''

Mass Effect 3 had the best ending.

Antel, or Concortion. Either way, I'd like to think I'm a nice guy who is nice to people.

ME2, had an excellent and gripping beginning and had an excellent story (all the way to the ending, too).

2/3 are both great but the ending of three gives two the edge.

Now get in the van.

The Black Chapter

3 had the best gameplay and sense of urgency.
1 probably had best character development and story but god awful gameplay, and 2 was the bridge between the two and let you doink Yvonne Strahovski.

Prolly 3 in terms of it being the overall superior game.
ME2 had the best DLC though

I do enjoy the brief 'spacewalk' in ME2's beginning though. Fun -blam!-

Mass Effect 1

It's a chore to play through due to the clunky gameplay and inventory. However, the story and atmosphere are so far above the sequels, and ultimately that's what matters in a game like Mass Effect.

  • 12.31.2012 7:32 PM PDT

Mass Effect, easily, but as many have said the combat mechanics weren't the best out of the series.

Casual gamer here since '92.

Hi.

ME1 had the best character development.
ME2 had the best DLC.
ME3 had the best environments/landscapes.

My favorite is probably ME3.

Mass Effect 1, the closest one in the trilogy to an RPG.

Infection in Halo 3 isn't zombie killing; it's ethnic cleansing. Have you ever noticed that these "zombies" are just black Spartans?

Mass Effect.

I thoroughly enjoyed the feeling of being the first human SPECTRE over being the fabled Commander Shepard of the later two games. Exploring the galaxy, solving crimes and chasing down a rogue SPECTRE was far more engaging and enjoyable than being the chosen saviour of humanity (and only humanity, apparently) who has come to deliver a killing blow to the incomprehensible evil looming over us.

Also, biotics. They were fun.

If mass effect 1 had the gameplay of 2 easily it would be 1. But as it stands mass effect 2.

It's interesting how Shepard becoming a legend in the sequels reflects humanity's status in the galaxy.

In the first game, humanity is nothing special. They are one species among many.

In the sequels, humanity is elevated to the "OMG Humanity is teh most speshull people evar!!!" status.

Glory to Jesus Christ

Original ME elitism is where it's at!

2 and 3 had cool stuff, some of which was better than the original, but holistically Mass Effect owns the other two.
