I wrote a letter to my parents, we had a talk and well, they were happy I came out as who I really was.
Transgendered here.

Haven't been to school since I was 9. A childhood friend of mine stopped visiting and ceased contact with no explanation afterwards though.

I have more trouble with random people though, to be honest.
You haven't been to school since you were 9? Home school? And damn dude, that really sucks. What exactly do you mean by having trouble with random people?

As a general question to any straight Floodians that wandered in here, do you take -blam!-ity into account when making friends? Would you be indifferent if a close friend suddenly told you that they were a part of the LGBT community?

-No
-More ass grabbing and some pretend flirting

If you have, how did you come out to people?
Do you want everybody to know your -blam!-ity?

I'm asking these because I've recently decided to tell a few more people that I'm Bi. I'm sick of pretending, sick of hiding. I won't tell everyone, but a few more friends. Some sort of new years resolution, I guess.

I got them alone and just said "I'm -blam!-"." That, and changing my Facebook Preference. That spreads it fast.

I don't care if people know or not, but it's kind of obvious.

Why the hell was the OP reported? This doesn't break any rules...

  • 12.31.2012 8:15 PM PDT

Although not explicitly stated, blog threads are not allowed. Also anything involving LGBT is very volatile. Better to stop the flame war before it even starts, even if conversation in this thread has been good so far.

This isn't any more of a blog thread than any of the "girl advice" threads we see here every 20 seconds.

Yeah.
And I mean I've had confrontations before. Insults, shouting, physical violence of varying degrees. I'm honestly surprised I haven't been shot or stabbed yet.

Those are blog threads too, what separates them from this is that The Flood agrees with the topic so much that they think it's okay to let it live even though it's against the rules. Stop the problem before it becomes a problem. A rule breaking thread shouldn't be allowed just because some people have a like minded opinion on the subject.

Holy -blam!- man, I'm really sorry people suck so much! Random people do that to you?

Personally I don't think either kind of thread is a "Blog thread" seeing as they are asking for advice and there's an actual conversation being initiated, but to each his own I guess.

Not that I have anything against that but good luck!

Yeah.
Wow, somehow I thought we'd gotten past that point as a society. That makes me really mad.

No, I really, really don't. Case in point.

A few months ago, a very close friend of mine (Of almost five years, and we're closer than typical friends) told me that she views herself as a -blam!-. I'm one of the few people she's told, and if I recall correctly, the first (or only) male.

I told her I would run myself through before I would dare pass judgement on her. And it wasn't turn of phrase, I -blam!-ing meant it.

I really didn't mean this as a blog thread, just used my situation as an example to ask everyone.
Sorry if I've broken rules mods.

If you truly thought that, you're either incredibly sheltered or incredibly dense. Or maybe you just haven't been party to some of the -blam!- I've seen.

  • 12.31.2012 8:34 PM PDT

A mod just locked a different thread but yours is still fine. You should be okay, but these threads tend to be rather...volatile. Do you remember Chick-Fil A Day? The Flood was in a frenzy.

Yeah, I almost put a "let's keep discussion at a polite level" in the OP, but thought that might spark something. Anyway, let's get back on topic because this is led too astray.

I obviously know that that isn't completely gone, I'm not an idiot. I just didn't think it would be commonplace to the point of "varying degrees of violence" on a single person, by complete strangers. When I said "Somehow..." I guess I really just meant "I'd forgotten that we hadn't moved past that as a society."
