What matters is that you're a good person. I hate that we live in a world where verbal harassment is legal but smoking weed is illegal.

Citizens of Me! The cruelty of the old Pharaoh is a thing of the past. Let a whole new wave of cruelty wash over this lazy land.

Hear the word of Pharaoh. Build unto me a statue of ridiculous proportion. One billion cubits in height......that I might be remembered for all eternity!

And be quick about it!

What are you talking about?

  • 01.01.2013 1:38 AM PDT

"Living to smile, and not to succeed; smiling to inspire happiness, not to give the illusion you are happy; creativity and music to inspire smiling, which in turn inspires happiness; being nice to be happy, not for being perceived a good person."

I just don't have a fairly high opinion on mood altering substances, not just those within the controlled substances range.

Ignore my gamertag. It's actually Dragonzzilla.

But if you don't keep those up, it's more likely you'll stray away from good.

What are you talking about?

People put so much emphasis on "being a good student" or "staying away from drugs", but don't even mention being a legitimately nice person.

+1 for you good sir.

I have the internet and Doctor Who; i don't need a life.

sure.
but different people have different ideas about what a 'good person' is, and they may include all of those things that you just said don't matter.

If someone thinks that whether you get an A or a B is an indicator of your morality, that person is messed up.

Being a nice person won't help my family at all if I can't get a job

I'd rather be an honest nice person and not have a job than be a phony jerk and have a job.

what about sobriety and abstinence? sex turns you into a lustful animal and alcohol twists your mind into something that you're not and can make you do very bad things. same with other drugs.
(i'm playing devil's advocate here btw)

Sex does no such thing. Trillions of people throughout the history of mankind have had sex without turning into a "lustful animal". Alcohol can make you more fun and social in moderation, and marijuana can open your eyes and change your life for the better.

I'd rather not brake the law and be an ass, than brake the law and be nice.

This guy, speaks the truth. All about moderation and not over doing it; self-control.

I would so much rather be a grumpy middle aged man sitting in an average house with an average job, than be a young, rebellious prison inmate.

If that's -blam!- up, then I guess you're right.

sex makes you objectify the other person; only wanting them for their body rather than their mind.
and plenty of people get into fights, crash their cars, kill themselves / others whilst drunk.

both are morally reprehensible and should be avoided in all cases.

Objectification happens every day. When you get a pizza delivered, the delivery guy is an object, a tool, used simply as a conduit to get your pizza. Likewise, you as a customer, are an object used to get money.

Just because some people get into drunk driving accidents, doesn't mean that all people will. We just be teaching moderation rather than prohibition.

Morality is subjective, and should only be applied to the most obvious of cases.
