Grow up.

I'm already grown enough. I can tell the sheep from the thinkers.

I have the internet and Doctor Who; i don't need a life.

-blam!- this position i'm much more interested in arguing my own morality.

Morality is subjective, and should only be applied to the most obvious of cases.
but if morality is subjective then surely there are no obvious cases.

  • 01.01.2013 1:58 AM PDT

Verbal Harassment can be ignored and easily dealt with.

True, but there are some moral positions that almost everyone holds, such as how murdering innocents is wrong.

Key

Verbal harassment is not legal. Your OP is not invalid.

but to base morality on a majority's position isn't really saying anything other than 'the opinion of the majority should be considered fact' which kinda goes against the whole subjective thing you had going.

sure.
but different people have different ideas about what a 'good person' is, and they may include all of those things that you just said don't matter.

If someone thinks that whether you get an A or a B is an indicator of your morality, that person is messed up.
what about sobriety and abstinence? sex turns you into a lustful animal and alcohol twists your mind into something that you're not and can make you do very bad things. same with other drugs.
(i'm playing devil's advocate here btw)

Sex does no such thing. Trillions of people throughout the history of mankind have had sex without turning into a "lustful animal". Alcohol can make you more fun and social in moderation, and marijuana can open your eyes and change your life for the better.

It could also turn you for the worst. You can't make a judgement on these things, because they effect everyone differently.

I never said that it should be held as fact, only that it should be held with more consideration than morality that the public is split on.

No it's not. It's harassment. Even if you can't get someone sued in criminal court, you can easily civil-suit it up.

No it's not. It's harassment.

If this were the case, 90% of high schoolers would be in prison.

Perhaps it does, I don't know. My overall point is that morals that mostly everyone agrees on are morals that are usually right.

What matters is that you're a good person. I hate that we live in a world where verbal harassment is legal but smoking weed is illegal.

Welcome to Hell.

Bluntly pulling numbers from random places doesn't help your point in a discussion.

Depends on many different variables. You can't really compare weed to cars... -_-

I'm so sorry. I really am. My whole argument is now completely invalid because I used an obviously rhetorical number instead of a weak word like "most".

Ninjas, this wizard has disproved my moral position and social principles. Please lock.

*subjectivity slipping away*
there is no right or wrong. only people's agreement or disagreement with a certain action. more people agreeing / disagreeing is not an indication of whether it is more right than wrong or vice versa.

Yes, I can. Smoking a bowl is actually safer than getting into a car.
