Human society has always consisted of a class-based hierarchy. This is a fact.
Even in a reality in which 'right' and 'wrong' are false concepts, inferiority and superiority aren't.

Inferiority and superiority are just as subjective as right and wrong, and they have changed just as often.

So when I hear the world "equality", I get the feeling that those of the 'lower castes', so to speak, are attempting to usurp the oligarchs of their (rightful) place either by replacement or misplacement, in this case, making everyone inferior. For superiority occupies one throne and shares it with no one.

But then how did the so called "higher" castes get to where they are? And I thought "right" and "wrong" were false concepts? Why did you use the word "rightful", then? And why would one party usurping another make everyone inferior, and not just the usurped party?

Inferiority, however, will gladly coexist with itself.

Why would it be any different than superiority?

At the risk of being labeled an elitist despite living in meager conditions,

You can be an elitist no matter what your conditions are.

I must state this: disadvantaged minorities (or sometimes, majorities) are always the only ones to ask for equality. Women, African descendants, -blam!-Iy disoriented individuals, and the economically unwell are and have been in a constant struggle to change the system in which they reside instead of becoming the major gear,

Of course they do, why would people who are supported by a system want to change that system?

and while it is admirable, it is also detrimental. What it has caused is an abherrant mixture of the defining characteristics of each of the classes, yet still mantaining a hierarchical structurre.

Can we get some examples, please? And explain exactly how the mixture is detrimental.

Discuss. I shall go to sleep now.

Yeah, you clearly aren't thinking so straight right now.

1.- He who can provide most for himself or his famly is superior. Biologically.

2.- I utilize the word 'rightful' because it's what you're accustomed to. By making the usurped party inferior, you've dragged it to your level. Now the hill awaits a new king.

3.- You misunderstood. Instead of conforming to the paradigm, they attempt to manipulate it to a point in which it benefits them.

4.- By mixing the oppressed with the oppressors, you mix the defining characteristics (that is, the reason they were oppressed in the first place) of the lower caste with those of the higher levels. For example, feminine, overly submissive men.
Another example would be the ascension of african descendants. By allowing them to enter the society from which they were shunned, they brought with them their criminally-perceived manners.

No, you don't want to. Otherwise you'd have gotten eye surgery.
Not to mention, you don't have to be an infantryman.
Don't pretend like you know my situation, you little -blam!-.

Eye surgery is impossible for me. My eyes are so misshapen that simply cutting the lenses won't do a thing, and would just end up doing further damage to my eyes. Even if that was an option, where the hell am I supposed to get the money for a $5000 - $10000 eye operation anyway?
Even then, what's the point of joining the army to become a desk jockey, some secretary organising files for a general without actually doing anything worthwhile on my own? That isn't fighting for my country, that isn't doing the national service or doing my country proud. I wouldn't join the army unless it's doing something worthwhile, something that past generations of diggers would be proud of. If I want a desk job I'll be an intern at the local newspaper or publishing company.

They aren't hiring by the way.

Your mind isn't blind. It can see clearly the necessary steps to succeed.
What the hell is that supposed to mean? I'm permanently blind, but I should just join the military anyway? Despite the fact that I will NEVER pass basic training?

What a nice world it would be if everything was that simple; where mere effort and will guaranteed success rather than merit, skill and opportunity. Sadly, society and employers judge you on how many pieces of paperyou have saying that you learnt -blam!- in uni, and not on -blam!- eagerness and will to work. I just want to finish my damn book, but apparently I need to spend the next four years in university to be even considered being rejected, despite numerous -blam!- everyone telling me how much skill and potential I have at entertaining people with words.

What do you mean "why do you care about society's issues?" We should care about society's issues, that's the whole idea of government. If everybody had that selfish mentality of "I only want to feed myself" there would be chaos.
I'm going to let the military one go because I believe you can figure out what's wrong with that on your own. After all, I don't really care about informing others so much, as myself. Am I right?

I understand your point OP but as humans and in society, we are all (or should be treated as) equals. Every race / sex / age group / whatever has something to offer and shouldn't be treated as inferior or superior.

/probably repeating what's already been said

You just proved my entire point. Just by the act of replying.

I'm not very intelligent so excuse me if I completely misinterpreted this

Are you saying that by having all races and sexes and age groups equal, whoever you think is the superior one is dragged down to the levels of the others, even though race and gender have no affect on who you are as a person?

I would be interested to hear your opinion. Which race do you feel is the superior race? I personally think that biological differences aside, everyone on this planet has the same potential, and the only thing blocking ethnic minorities from contributing to society if they really want to is bigotry from the majority.

That's not on a biological level, it's on a mental level. Everybody can not figure our how to exist without qualms. But it's in our own mindset and not some biological code that exist within race.

Turning your nuts into a -blam!- is easier than shaping one's eyes to be the perfect shape.

Yes, in most cases laser surgery can correct vision, but in my case it would require reshaping my eye sockets so that my eyeballs aren't elongated. Which is to say, it's impossible. They can't just refocus the lenses in my eyes because my eyes are that bad. That's why glasses. Which, in the case of a firefight, would make me a liability.

For your last paragraph, the reason they may try and "bring down others" or in another case try and pave a road to meet the higher class is so that they have a chance to become one of them, to become equal to them. If the "lesser" people (unfortunate people, etc) aren't given a chance then that's truly unequal. Equality in this topic means that everyone has the same potential. And at the core of it all, everyone does have the same potential, because we are all humans. Some are just born in unluckier circumstances, but that doesn't mean they can't rise to the upper ranks like the others.

You can discuss all you want about human nature. Life is a competition after all, so it's easy to see why those who are weak are suppressed to stay weak (it's easy).

Then we enter the morals and ethics of this dilemma. So I will stop here by saying that equality is equality. If you are given the same tools (equality), you have the chance to become more superior than another or less superior. It's all on you.

Basically your saying that the majority in every society is superior

That's because they are the majority. When you take the biggest group of people of course they will have made more contributions. But that doesn't mean that each member of the majority is superior to each member of the minority. If the minority was bigger, they still wouldn't be superior. Race doesn't matter. I don't see why some people can't accept everyone as a fellow human being instead of nitpicking at racial or sex differences. It's stupid and it can be dangerous.

Since you obviously don't understand the military problem, I'll explain it to you. You cannot use joining the military as an excuse to not fix economic problems at home. "Not enough jobs? Join the military!" No. We cannot have millions of unemployed people joining the military. Who's going to pay them? The government. Where does the government get its money from? You, and others. How would you feel if the largest portion of the budget went to defense? I know here in the U.S., we already spend way too much on defense. That would take away from other programs where the money is needed more. Does that make sense? It's not a personal thing, it's an entire country's problem.

Generalizations.
Helping idiots hate other idiots since people have existed.

Except I live in a country called America, and in my country, we have this thing called a constitution. A constitution that guarantees the rights of all its citizens. These minorities you have been speaking about have fought for their rights guaranteed by the constitution.

This makes everyone equal in opportunity. But in America, our economic system is capitalist. Those who are superior make big $$$, while those who are inferior do not. It's very simple.

It is, by all means, entirely impossible, impossible to be selfless, unless by complete accident.
You hand the beggar some money to feel good about yourself. It's a transaction between you and him, and transactions are the natural norm.
Look, the reason we give is to receive. This isn't up for debate. I believe I made a thread about this. Which, as always, garnered more than four pages.
