Flood I'm thinking of upgrading to this card. I have a mid size tower and currently have a GTX 560 TI.

So would the 680 fit in my rig?

And what suggestions would you recommend with a 500 dollar price range?

How are we supposed to know? A "medium sized tower" isn't descriptive enough. Google it.

AMD master race.

Most likely over kill. The price/performance ratio is very poor.

Current benchmarks indicate AMD cards are the master race at this point.

After I saw how they worked on different games, I still laughed.

Use your head. The one on your shoulders. No really, just try. Please?

You could probably get a much cheaper increase in performance through just getting a second 560 TI.

They AMD offerings certainly are the better value when you are in the $100-$200 price range, but any from $250 and up I would say the Nvidia is the clear winner.
EDIT: I was talking to the guy above me, but forgot to press the quote button. Silly me.

I got the twin frozr 680gtx and I gotta say it has great performance. As far as fitting in your case. Get a tape measure and measure it. You should be able to find the dimensions for the card on its product page.

I don't think its worth spending an extra 500 dollars the difference is pretty small.

Wait for the 700 series, they'll be out around march I'd guess.

Lol. Good one.

OT: The 6XX series are big cards. I have a GTX670 and it is a monster. Google the dimensions, then measure your case. That's the only way to know.

This or get a 690.

As many have pointed out, simply measure the available space you have in your case (most importantly the length), and compare that to the card.

My GTX 670s are smaller than my GTS 250 card that I have. The 600 series are actually smaller than previous models (of course depending if you go for some huge non-reference card).

That's quite the escalation there...
