I've been told by many people that you should wait two to three weeks after sex, or three days after a missed/delayed period. This makes sense and all, but I haven't found a clear enough answer about period's during pregnancy.

I thought it was widely known that periods couldn't occur during pregnancy. However, after doing a few simple Google searches, I found some people that said it's still possible. Whether it's true or not, I don't care; the point is that you can't test after a missed period if the period exists.

So, with all that being said, can anyone explain to me how periods work after conception/implementation?

If, for example, you have sex right at the end of a girl's period, then will she definitely not have a period during the next month?

And, if periods can coexist with pregnancy, approximately how long after sex should one wait to get a pregnancy test?

Jack of all trades, master of none.

Whenever you go to a doctor and the doctor tells you that you're pregnant, honestly.

Are you implying that HPT's don't work?

Dumb people are just blissfully unaware of how very dumb they are.

Are you the guy who made the thread about his girlfriend being possibly pregnant?

Well, here we are. I guess that it was destined to come to this.

Menstruation (or the lack thereof) is not a 100% reliable timer/indicator of pregnancy or non-pregnancy.

14 or more days after conception/implantation, a typical OTC test should be relatively accurate.

A serum hCG (drawn by medical professionals and run in a lab) can be accurate as little as 3 days after conception.

You can tell whether or not your girlfriend is pregnant by how wide she smiles when you tell her you think the condom slipped off. If she has any expression other than abject horror, she is knocked up or hopes to be.

I'm saying that test done in a lab and by a doctor will be completely accurate.

So, even if someone does or doesn't have a period, the hormones that set off the tests will still be there after two or so weeks?

hCG levels will alter based on the menstrual cycle, but a pregnancy will cause levels that are above/outside of the normal non-pregnant fluctuations.

If the moment in question/doubt was more than a few weeks ago, an OTC test is a good step, if it shows positive, then get it confirmed by a doctor/clinic.

But if the two to three weeks have passed after the moment of conception, is it safe to assume that a negative is indeed a negative?

short answer: pregnancy tests usually are arrogate 12-16 days after you had sex.

Girls usually ovulate (time they are most fertile) two weeks after their last period. so if you had sex outside of that time frame there is less of a chance shell be pregnant, especially right before or after their period.

best thing to do is buy the 3 pack take 1 on the 12th day after sex one the 16th and then one a few days after her expected period

Why waste the money on the 12th day if it's not even accurate?
