Subject: A hypothetical question for people who wear glasses...

Dear Floodians:

A Girl thread a day keeps the ladies at bay and gets us banned, the lonely single way.

Presume you were born 400 years ago and had to live with the same vision you do today.

How screwed would you be?

  • 01.01.2013 4:19 PM PDT

I can't see 2 feet in front of me

  • 01.01.2013 4:20 PM PDT

"Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened."
- Dr. Seuss

I'd be alright.

Everything's blurry but I can pretty much tell what stuff is.

Jacoby

I just got glasses last Friday after almost 19 years without. Yay, now I can be included in this discussion!!!
OT: I would be alright. Since 400 years ago I wouldn't have had to worried about driving or taking notes in a big ass class room.

Remember what Sergeant Vau told us: Eat your vegtable capsules.

I'd be ok.

I am the God Emprah of Mankind.

Deal with it.

I would probably not be using a bow.

You'd be pretty much dead in less than a week I think.

I'd be fine.

My vision is like 20-40 so it's not terrible.

  • 01.01.2013 4:25 PM PDT

Please stop complaining about the 'death of a loved one' it's my job. They probably deserved it anyways. Here's a warning, if you keep making pentagrams out of the neighbors livestock I will personally come to your house and kill everyone you love. Now leave me alone, I got to get back to work.
~M.D~

I'd be killed off first.

That's right. My plumage is brighter than yours.

I'd tear out my eyes, that way I could see into the dream-time.

Artes, Scientia, Veritas

Sapere Aude

"But I do not think we're invincible"

I'd get by.

"There's a very fine line between not listening, and not caring. I'd like to think that I walk that line every day."

I made it until I was six or so without them. Now that I wear corrective lenses, I can't imagine how I could bear earlier schooldays and whatever.

Rain, and Jazz.
Halo: Tactical

I'm either a fool or an inteligent man, depending on how sleepy or angry I am.

I originaly made an account on 07.27.2007 but I wanted to link my GT and made this account. Don't forget your passwords!

I'm actually able to do stuff without my glasses really well, like catching stuff inches from my face with perfect accuracy. I can tell where I'm going pretty good too, I've never had problems.

I'd actually be better off than if I didn't have a way to see today! There is so much more small print now-a-days, like on roads, 'n buildings, 'n stuff.

I would be...dead. Doc said I had a 10 percent chance of living at birth.

  • 01.01.2013 4:36 PM PDT

I'd be fine I just wouldn't be able to clearly see things from a distance.

  • 01.01.2013 4:37 PM PDT

Want Coup? Here it is for Chrome.

I'm k with this.

RIP Halo 2: November 9, 2004-May 10, 2010
I was the 2nd to last person to get kicked off Halo 2, see the thread Here

I'd have no chance whatsoever.

  • 01.01.2013 4:38 PM PDT

I'd get by just fine. I can see up close with no problem. Far away things get blurry but I can usually make out what it is. I usually only wear glasses when I drive or am watching TV because the screen is kind of small (first world problems).

  • 01.01.2013 4:39 PM PDT

Well, I'd probably do just fine actually. There wouldn't be nearly as many signs to read from a distance. I wouldn't be able to fully identify certain objects (small ones), but I wouldn't really need to either.

Your average nice guy on The Flood.... D: ..... WAIT A MINUTE....

They still had glasses back then OP, but they weren't as good I'll admit.

Seeing as how it would be the 1600's, I'd probably be burned at the stake for having opinions that were taboo at that time, before I had to worry about my eyesight.

Never say you're bored. Never say you're satisfied with the world. Never stop doubting or questioning things. Always wonder. Always think. But always take time to drop your guard, you don't have to be smart all the time.

I'd be fine.

I think quality would have been less of a problem than availability/cost back then.

  • 01.01.2013 4:42 PM PDT

I'd be all right. I only need my glasses to drive.

Dear tomorrow, Find some sensibility, Respond to emotion.
Dear Politician, Define sagacity,
All chances of survival are beginning to diminish.
Comedy is no excuse for our own blasphemies.
Mass media, Mass pessimism, Mass Denial.
My television tells me to panic, but I don't think I'll listen.
The apathetic force us to persevere, with their backwards priorities.

I...I can't see!

Mythical Group

There is no greater catharsis than arguing on the Flood.

Pretty sure they had eyewear 400 years ago, although it would be for the wealthy. I would be pretty screwed in a lot of professions, I'm very near-sighted. Perhaps being a tinkerer or a smith would suit.
