I know, right?
Jay acts like she's better than everyone else simply because she's a chick.
I hope she chokes to death.

Ah, so you admit that you're sexist and part of the problem, and resent the fact that you may be asked to be part of the solution.
I'm sexist when it's humorous to be so. And saying "Don't post sexist jokes" isn't a -blam!- solution. I've said this multiple times, but it doesn't seem to be getting through your head.
As a guy, you have the liberty of only not being sexist when it suits you.

As a woman, I'm affected by it all the time.

Easy for you to dismiss something as unimportant when it doesn't affect you, isn't it?

Yeah guys are subject to sexism too. You are being ignorant and blind if you think women are the only ones affected by it. Here's some examples.

Women on the view laugh about how a mans junk was cut off by his crazy wife.
Commercials portray men as helpless oafs who need their wives to boss them around.
Women typically get less prison sentence for the same crime as men.
Women get more in divorce settlements, and usually get more in terms of child custody.
Women get birth control rights and decisions, men don't.
Physical violence in a household against a man is considered comical, against a woman it's tragic.

I could continue on but you see the point I'm making. It's people like you that hold us back as humans and further devide the genders. Both men and women face issues but you seem to only care about those that affect you and your gender.
I don't condone violence against men in any form at all. I don't think men getting their junk cut off is funny, and I take domestic violence against men very seriously.

Re: most of your post, see my reply to Baph. But in relation to birth control rights: why exactly would it be a man's right to decide whether or not a woman would terminate a pregnancy that she has to carry, exactly?

I've challenged my beliefs. What is the book about?

I find that this is usually untrue. If religious people honestly, diligently and intelligently challenged their beliefs, there would be no religious people.

Because he has to pay for it. No matter the circumstances of her getting pregnant (lied about being on the pill, forgot, etc). It's still his responsiblity. It's a theme for an age where women have choices but men have responisiblies.

It's not his right to force her to get an abortion, but its not her right to force him to pay for a decision of having a child she alone made. Yet the law favors women.

If you're a zombie and you know it, bite your friends.

The Flood Theory of Deterioration: q(p)=(qi)e^(-p/r)

Where q(p) is the quality of the thread as a function of p posts, (qi) is the inital quality of the first post, p is the amount of posts and r is the e-peen of the original poster.

I see anyone that gets offended by a joke to be either over-sensitive or an idiot. If you take a joke seriously and get offended because of it, I think you're the one with the problem. It's a joke. By definition it's not meant to be serious. Why treat it like it is? Because you mistake someone joking about a stereotype as them joking at your expense?

This goes for anyone that gets offended by a joke. Get over it, it's just a joke.

I didn't see anything to respond to, sorry!
I was being humourous, not offended. :P Gender issues just happens to be one of the few "controversial" topics I enjoy talking about nowadays.

-snip-Yeah, I recognize that a lot of problems face by men today are a result of the same social structures that have oppressed women. However, I don't think it is wise to ignore the historical impact women themselves have had on enabling those social structures, and the ways women had benefited up until the 20th century. The advent of the modern firearm in the early 1900's really did a lot for the advancement of women's rights as we understand them, I think.

Not really trying to get into this debate, however, it does seem unfair that the father has no say over whether the child lives or dies for a child he wants, however, the mother can force him into paying child support for a child he doesn't want.

I think this is within the rules. If it isn't, I guess I'll find out. But it's not about politics or religion, so here goes.

Female gamers are not actually rare - I believe estimates run as high as 50% of gamers being women,

Maybe it's that high if you are talking about arcade games and not AAA which most people in, I believe and have no evidence to prove otherwise is, for now, dominated by men.

Halo 3

So everyone always claims that OP is an attention whore. Other complementary insults include OP being insecure in general and in physical appearance. But for the sake of experiment, focus on one variable: attention-whore.

Well I just decided to look at OP's "Recent Posts," and I noticed a trend. OP only make threads (and most are very stirring) and post in those. If OP is not making a thread, OP doesn't seem to go on the Flood to post about anything else besides topics like these - topics related to self-image. At least that's a recent study that holds true through October 2012.

My conclusion: OP is an attention whore. Flood consensus is correct. Lock thread.

/thread

Just gonna re-re-re-repost this.

Sound science right here.

I think most people understand that women did, for a long time, live by ("enable") the gender roles of their time. However, as men have traditionally held power over women, I think it's absurd to propose that women are largely responsible for those roles or their continuation. Until relatively recently, breaking gender roles was not only socially unacceptable, but also lead to ostracization. and the ways women had benefited up until the 20th century. If there are any that aren't simply beneficial side effects of women's subjugation, they are minimal compared to the way gender roles have traditionally benefitted men. The advent of the modern firearm in the early 1900's really did a lot for the advancement of women's rights as we understand them, I think.Explain.

Where are the overwhelming responses of "women are good for nothing but babies and cooking"? I'm not really seeing them in this thread. The things that I do see are people posting women jokes in order to be humorous or to get a response. That hardly shows that the Flood has a problem with sexists.
I like how OP avoids answering the question that attempts to make the big rant on the first page void.

Where is the problem that the Flood has and why are you trying to fix a problem that no one can seem to determine exists?

No, it shows that the problem exists, contradicting your assertion that such is not a demonstrable claim.

I'm guessing that the strong presence of feminists and moderators ITT has deterred a lot of the would-be sexists. I think you're either lying to yourself or oblivious if you don't think that there's sexism in The Flood or internet in general on a regular basis.

I'm not saying women brought it on themselves by any means. However, I don't think a society would develop in such a way that 50% of the population thought was entirely negative for them. To put it another way, I think that women, in the times when patriarchies were forming, preferred patriarchy to the alternative.

I also think that s*xual selection in humans encourages societies where political control is concentrated in the male population. Social status plays a uniquely important role in whether or not a woman is attracted to a man, in ways that are not reflected in male attraction to women.

Explain. The modern firearm really made the need for a male protector irrelevant.

Great industrialization and commercialism in general had this affect too. Essentially, machines eased much of the burden of being a homemaker, giving women more free time and making the prospect of gender equality, as we understand it in modern times, viable for the first time in human history.

Took me two -blam!- seconds to find one. In a thread that you posted in.

That thread actually has a lot more sexism in it, though the linked post was the most obvious incident I could find.
