I love halo, i played it on my friend's xbox and loved it. I played the pc version well, on my "high" end 2.4 ghz ati 9800 pro with 1 ghz of ram has slow downs on "high" graphic options at 1024x768 i mean what gives! Even bungie has got like alpha code written for the pc and mac, and xbox is well almost bascially a pc. GTA and GTA vice city which was the xbox ran very well on my machine as well as new games such as Far Cry (i think i get better performance from far cry). I'm just justifying why the company (gearbox) cant even copy paste modify code to suit for the pc, it's just really not on. Please please get another developer if you (bungie) are not doing the pc version.

Lets get this straight here. Microsoft forced Gearbox to get the game in store by that certain date. So the people to blame is Microsoft for rushing the game, not Gearbox since Microsoft was the one that package and ships the game. Gearbox just ports the thing and would have been a good port hadn't Microsoft rushed it in order to get it in store before Half Life 2.

But only do that if you have the proper cooling system. Overclocking means that the processor is more likely to overheat.

ITS NOT HIS PROCESSOR!! I got a P4 2.4 and run UT2k4 at blazing speed using a 9600XT (with everything on High) Halo ran on a 733Mhz P3 in the Xbox. The problem is the 3D engine. Halo Runs decent on my rig, but it has a sluggish feeling.

Okay, I checked my UT04 settings and they were set to factory defaults at 800x600 res. Not impressive as you would prolly say. I jacked the res up to 1024x768 and maxed everything. I heard a demonic voice say "holy Sh%^" which I cried laughing. Only yhing I left factory was the fog settings (I never see any) The game still ran hella fast. It appeared as though it was still topping 60+ fps which too me is awesome. I played several different maps online and had no problems. So you see, even though I wasn't entirely accurate at first, my therory is still correct. HaloPC has a clunky un-optimized 3D engine. CE is better, but still not what it could've been. I wonder what the alpha code Bungie had when they originally planned Halo for PC runs like. Here are my specs if interested:

P4 2.4Ghz 533 FSB
512meg DDR333 (Single channel)
Sapphire Radeon 9600XT 128meg (Cat 4.10)
WinXP Pro with all updates
80gig Seagate SATA HDD
Intel D865PERL MB with sound

NO OVERCLOCKING

Not flamming Gearbox. I'm on Halo every night. All Im saying is that the 3D engine could've been better. MS did rush the game and Im sure there were contraints placed on the port. I doubt they wanted it to look better than the xbox version.
