Every community I've ever been a part of has had its fair share of jerks.
When you become a large part of that community, you will find a lot more attention brought upon yourself, positive and negative.
Seeing as though you run "The best private group on Bungie.net", I can very easily see you receiving a lot of undeserved hate. Bummer, right?None of us mentioned that.Did I say that you had mentioned that? No. I brought it up because I was trying to think of why the OP was experiencing an amount of hate over the "normal" threshold.
Couldn't help yourself, could you? What can I say? If Duardo had posted the OP, I would have cited the fact that he's an employee....moderator...PM him....whatever.... and random people will hate him for their entire lives over a 3 month ban. Harlow definitely gets more hate than he deserves, and the biggest reason i could think of is the one I mentioned.
If you, Jay, had posted this thread, a lot of people would get on your case for being a girl and all that crap. I'd point this out in my reply. as I said, Bummer- right?
Maybe I'm just getting confused, because I surf these forums as much as the next guy and don't see this being an overwhelming issue. It's something that the mods will deal with and something I can selectively ignore. Hopefully more people can do the same.
~rant~
I know a while back, I asked for more carpet bans to deal with "no-duh" rule breaking situations. If someone posts a hate mongering thread towards some minority group, shouldn't everyone and anyone involved in the threads life be banned for keeping it towards the top for any amount of time? Doesn't matter if you posted "banned" or "You shouldn't post that in the mains", you know it's a terrible thread with ill intention and you shouldn't do anything other than click the 'report' button.
~end~
As said before in this thread by another member, this is a societal problem, but there is nothing more we can do than report and move on. right?
I guess we can follow in the footsteps of so many before us by posting threads saying that the situation is dire and we need to do something, but that really is all we can do. we can report, we can move on, and oh hey! We can let the new guys know that the offenders are nothing more than randoms on the internet and there is more to bungie.net than hate.
...right guys?
right?
