STICK IT TO THE MAN, YEAH

Maybe the rules are here for a reason?

Think about the legendary threads of our time..."how u become the guy to ban people", "Achronos likes Megablocks", and Cheerios. All of them were against the rules, but they've been cemented in the "culture", if you will, of the Flood.
Now, I'm not promoting rule-breaking by any means. No one likes a flame war. I'm just saying that I think we have the perfect balance of strictness and leniency right now. And I commend Bnet's moderating team for it. You want more rules, more "civilized" discussion? Join a private group.

you people are seriously making a big deal out of this. the forums are great, and the mods are almost perfect in their judgement. To ask for change is unnecessary and downright stupid..ive only been a member for almost 6 years so I have no idea what im talking about :p.

Did you read my post? I'm on your side; I like the way things are now.[/

oh im sorry I meant to just quote jay. This whole thing is just stupid, we have it great in our little corner of the internet, I dont see why people have to complain over what I consider isolated incidents.

I guess it's a waste of time talking about this, because people like Jacob and Verachi and DMG will continue posting this kind of stuff - within a thread about hostility, no less - and nothing will done about it.
Hold the phone; When was I being hostile?

  • 01.02.2013 1:31 AM PDT

the flood forum is fine the way it is. People aren't always going to agree on everything. I don't mind the blunt attitude that the flood has.

If a thread looks dumb in the flood I do this thing called: avoid it.

Only the first of those threads is really well-known. Also, "legendary threads of our time"? Really? Stop taking it so seriously. It's just a gaming forum.

  • 01.02.2013 1:33 AM PDT

Allons-y!

The Flood is an off-topic forum, so you can expect people associated with everything to gather there, at which point they will crash together, creating a violent maelstrom of opinions and judgements upon eachother. You can't expect otherwise, OP.

You're not a true Bungie fan if you don't memorize every trivial detail about this site's history, chump.

Especially if it happens to be one of those floodian "legendary" threads.

If you're offended by the Flood, I'm sorry, but you are oversensetive. I get more hostility from my super conservative classmates and teachers at school than I do on the flood, and all they know about me is I'm a moderate liberal agnostic with a drinking problem.

If the FLOOD hurts your feelings, I feel sorry for you. I can barely imagine how you'll feel one day when you have to go out into the real world.

I definitely think the problem lies with users reporting such posts which go against the "Play nice, don't be a jerk" clause. While it doesn't help that the phrase can be interpreted a number of ways dependent on each and every user, the primary predicament is that there is no instant gratification for reporting a user. The result of reporting varies in length due to a number of variables (how many people report, when a moderator checks the report queue, if other people have reported, etc) which is why I can see it putting off a lot of users from reporting.

Not hating, just saying that threads on the flood have very little, if anything, to do with Bungie. Knowing "legendary" threads there doesn't make you a Bungie fan.

Alright boys and girls, calm down, why don't we all try to be civil here?
First of all, I agree with Harlow.

I don't post on this site much these days, not really in groups, and inconsistently on the mains. I come to the community forum to read mailsacks, and wait for DeeJ to tell us -blam!-, or spread the love in the Flood because there just ain't enough love to go around.
It does strike a chord in me though, I consider myself a nice guy, I'm a student, I play sports, videogames, go to parties have friends, opinions, feelings just like every one of you, I'm a human being. Now, I might not be perfect, I don't think anyone is, but that's no reason not to try to be nice.
Sure, I have bad days when I snap at people, but everyone can have the occasional bad day. What isn't right, is when people act like that, on steroids, in every post they make.

There's nothing wrong with having opinions, and I certainly don't have a problem with defending them, but there is a way to do that, and no, it isn't 'MAN YOU'RE A -blam!- I'M RIGHT YOU'RE WRONG' (that said, I must admit to stooping that low in a firearm debate recently - and those who were involved, I'M SORRY OK).
The thing is, and correct me if I'm wrong, but as far as I'm concerned, and I'm pretty good on my social norms - being a jerk, and not utilising basic manners are both bad things, and the lack of them on this site is a pretty big old problem.

I've reported maybe 80% of posts in this thread for overstepping the line between arguing an opinion and personal attacks. I'm aware some of you are alts, I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. But I just wanted to get it off my chest how widespread the said problem is.
This thread has highlighted the problem, and it is a problem.
So long and goodnight.

Well, I've been economical with the truth.

Harlow, as much as I agree with you, this isn't a problem that can really be 'fixed' as you can't fix the way people behave. I think the closest thing that can be done here is improve the rules to make them more strict, though that in itself may also drive more users away.

I think at the end of the day we all have to somehow agree on not being such ass hats, which we all know won't happen. The best we can do is adapt to the ways and warn the new users of how the people on B.net act, per say.

You can't ban the majority here for being 'mean'
