Subject: Dragon Age III: Inquisition. Who's excited?

Who's excited? I sure am.

All I ask is that they don't screw it up like they did with DA2.

Pretty excited. The only thing I have reason to be excited for so far is that we might be seeing the Grey Warden and Hawke, which will be, well, awesome.

That being said, everyone exaggerates how much of a screw up DA2 was. EA only gave them like, what, a year's production time with DA2? They seem to have given Bioware more creative freedom and time with Inquisition, so we can hope!

Thats if your Grey Warden survives. Hawke, I'm not so bothered about because he didn't feel like he was my own character.

Circle Jerkin' I got my wiener workin'

Does Hamburger Helper still work for Bioware? If she does, DA3 is doomed.

I was trying to make a Monty Python Spanish Inquisition joke. It failed.

I know. And mine did.

As for Hawke, I disagree. He was different to the Warden but I liked it, and honestly giving him a voice made everything so much better.

I didn't even play dragon age 2 because of how bad everyone said it was. Which is a shame because i loved the first one.

ALL HAIL GABEN

I have the first 2 games on lolOrigin (cause I got them for free from EA's mess up). I'll play through those first before I even get around to play DA3.

Like I said before I don't think its possible for Bioware to destroy that great franchise any more then they already bloody have but they are on a roll so I wouldn't put it past them.

Though the fact that it actually has a name this time my indicate that its a serious attempt at a game. After what they did in DA2 I just don't know if they could ever win me back.

Then they utterly destroyed Mass effect so my hope meter is pretty -blam!- low.

voiced protagonists take away all immersion into the game and disallow for you to make your own story of your character.....

the primary appeal of rpgs is that you can do whatever you want and be whomever you want. When you get a voice you cannot think of what his or her voice might be on its own.

dragon age was actually a modern throwback on the baldurs gate series which let you customize your character in a plethora of areas. If dragon age is meant to harken back to ye olden days and it gives "your character" (i say that loosely as hawk is preset anyway) a voice it shatters that perception of what you might have wanted that character to be. Instead we get a half fleshed out character that the developers expect us to fill in ourselves. The problem is that this character never feels realized and instead of it being an instresting character of his/her own we must fill in the empty pieces. This makes the character a husk and it ends up feeling more like a puppet than something that you have made yourself, or a fully fleshed out character.

It's not that bad, really. It's still Dragon Age. Just keep in mind that they got a year to make the game and that'll put things in perspective.

Besides, the price you could get it for today is more than worth it.

I came into the series with DA2, I won't be playing DAO or DA3 after that.

All I can say to that is, well. Mass Effect, really. Mass Effect. And more Mass Effect.

But in the case of Dragon Age, of course DA2 isn't a throwback. Origins was and I guess they struck gold with it, or EA saw potential in it's $$$. I dunno, but I know I felt like Hawke. If there's one thing Dragon Age 2 does great it's throwing your feelings and in-game morals back and forth, from diplomatic to aggressive back to heroic again. And sarcastic for good measure. I loved sarcastic. By the end of the game I was getting so sick of everything that it's probably the only thing that kept me going.

Bioware knows their dialogue, at least. And the British voice actor for Hawke honestly grew on me.

actually i never thought shepard was a good character in any sense, and felt like he was just a generic space captain character without any depth or sense of vulnerabilities. Shepard IS a boring character and you the player are tasked to make him interesting.

i can see why people like mass effect, but to me after playing so many rpgs i can see past the illusion.

Bungie made a series worthy of the Gods, but that does not make them such.

I loved Origins. But when I tried DA2, I felt very disappointed. Hopefully 3 will be more like the first one.

I can see your point, but it's not the voice of Shepard that severs that link between character and player. Perhaps amplifies it if the writing is bad, but good writing is the focus. And there's something to be said about seeing your words play out real-time.

Not to say I'm against no voice acting. I like Hawke, but I don't think anyone could compare to my little dwarf noble.
