actually i never thought shepard was a good character in any sense, and felt like he was just a generic space captain character without any depth or sense of vulnerabilities. Shepard IS a boring character and you the player are tasked to make him interesting.

i can see why people like mass effect, but to me after playing so many rpgs i can see past the illusion.

I can see your point, but it's not the voice of Shepard that severs that link between character and player. Perhaps amplifies it if the writing is bad, but good writing is the focus. And there's something to be said about seeing your words play out real-time.

Not to say I'm against no voice acting. I like Hawke, but I don't think anyone could compare to my little dwarf noble.
nah its the fact that its another voice saying the words i want to say, that is what is jarring. If there is no character creation then there is no problem.
Gearalt from the witcher 2 is an amazing character and you just happen to be on the ride along with him to experience his story vicariously. He is a character and every choice you make seems like a choice that Gearalt himself would make becuase the choices themselves have some sort of feasibility that he would choose to do that.

voiced protagonists take away all immersion into the game and disallow for you to make your own story of your character.....
Am I the only one here that doesn't mind voice protagonists?
in the context of character creation rpgs.....

I have no hope in Bioware's ability to make decent games after DA2, TOR, and ME3.

Why, hello there.

I have hard time trusting BioWare, considering that both Dragon Age II and Mass Effect 3 were terrible.

After DA2 hell no. Im going to wait for reviews and opinions of other people before I even consider buying the game.

Take me into your heart! Accept me as your savior! Nail me to the -blam!- cross, and let me be reborn!

Am I the only one who had a hard time getting into the first Dragon Age? I'm a huge fantasy RPG fan, but DA just didn't do it for me. I tried one of the elf classes, and then a human noble mage? I think that's what it was. Anyways, I got all the way to the Archdemon with said mage, and couldn't take it down. Haven't touched the game since. That was about 8 months ago. It just wasn't an enjoyable experience TBH. Maybe I'll try it again though.

lol after dragon age 2 this series is dead to me.
idk. da2 really was the dragon age equivalent to ME2: it's jumbled, go-nowhere, flat, and awkward, latent with forced, fan-fic-quality romances, but it still has *some* redeeming character moments. not a particularly good game, but no series killer.

of course, after ME3, i fully expect DA3 to be the thing that irrevocably destroys the DA universe.

DA Origins was so cliche it was painful but it was the combat that kept me playing.

I didn't even play dragon age 2 because of how bad everyone said it was. Which is a shame because i loved the first one.

It's not that bad, really. It's still Dragon Age. Just keep in mind that they got a year to make the game and that'll put things in perspective.

Besides, the price you could get it for today is more than worth it.
Don't listen to this deluded individual. DA2 is a freaking embarrassment with next to no redeeming qualities, it took everything the first game did and turned it into a cheap cash cow with plot holes the size of Jupiter, tiny area of play, broken quests, boring combat system, no questions from the first game even slightly answered and a ridiculous plot that ends the exact same way regardless of what you do.

Don't even think of buying the game.

It's developed by the "new" BioWare... not really expecting a decent game.

Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Pachter speculated that Dragon Age III would be released some time in 2014. The title was believed to be scheduled for release in the fourth quarter of 2013, but Pachter suggested it had been delayed so BioWare and video game publisher Electronic Arts could fix problems and create new content for Star Wars: The Old Republic and Mass Effect 3. However, many BioWare developers, such as Mary Kirby, claimed this was inaccurate, stating that "Dragon Age III's development will not be delayed by BioWare's other games."

You sure?

Combat is also expected to differ somewhat from its predecessors and focus more on a player's ability to prepare, position, and form a cohesive team with his or her party members, requiring fewer repetitive finger strikes but better thinking.

Either way, I hope it isn't delayed.
