Subject: Would a suppressor work with incendiary rounds?

If you're worried about it not setting on fire, I would highly recommend one of these.

It would do something, but it wouldn't be as effective when not using cold-loaded ammo (less gunpowder so the rounds are sub-sonic).

And why are you asking OP?

Your answer might be in the news tomorrow.

Wait what ?????

Are you doing something illegal ?

That's obviously what he's been trying to imply this entire thread...

Anyway, OT: Will these incendiary rounds even light a barn on fire? They'll probably just go right through the barn, no?

I thought I made it clear it isn't a barn. I doubt the round will go through the walls, but even then most of the inside should be able to be lit on fire.

No burning down of a certain unspecified building tonight.

Incendiary rounds are very bright, there's no way people won't see you.
Do you know how quickly they travel?

  • 01.02.2013 1:21 AM PDT

Calculus calms my troubled mind

OP a tracer round probably won't contain enough energy in the form of heat to light wood on fire even if it doesn't go through, you probably want some kind of incendiary grenade, molotov cocktail, or something that is already burning on its own like a flaming arrow.

However none of these solve the problem of remaining undetected. A high power laser can solve this if you can get your hands on one with enough power to light the wood on fire, as the laser itself is invisible except at the pointer itself, and the object being lased, unless there is dust or other particulates to scatter the light.

Hope this helps!

Do you know how bright tracers are?

Also, there's no such thing as incendiary ammo for a bolt action. The bullet is too small. If there was, you would need multiple rounds to set anything on fire, which gives anyone watching more than enough chances to locate the shooter, especially at night. Tracer is bright as -blam!- in the daytime, at night it's mother-blam!- star wars laser beams.

OP is a dumbass if he thinks he can use a single shot of tracer from a bolt action rifle and that it'll cause anything to burst into flames. Not to -blam!- mention at night, when tracer is brightest.

You can't get incendiary ammo for bolt actions. It's impractical, as you need multiple rounds hitting the same area in quick succession to start any sort of significant fire.

OP was probably conned into buying tracer, if this thread even isn't a troll.

And incendiary ammo is tracer anyway.

Generalizations.
Helping idiots hate other idiots since people have existed.

OP is being oddly specific with his questions.

It would be pointless. If you have ever seen the rounds coming out of an auto weapon, you can obviously see where it is coming from.

Someone seeing where the shots are coming from, which is unlikely due to the time of night and location, does not concern me so long as I am not identified.

Also, it is a bolt-action rifle. I can say nothing more.

I am assuming you are just an idiot who knows nothing about how bullets work.

If you can see one bullet, you can locate the position.

It would be pointless.
Haha, no.

You are implying I am using something availible to civillians or the most basic military incendiary ammo. There is always something better than the generic. That goes for ammo and everything else in the world.

A visible light laser with enough power to light wood on fire will probably be able to be seen in your average outside air.

04s suck

You have horrible planning OP, why didn't you do it during new years while everyone was firing fireworks? You wouldn't need a supressor then.

What, you got HE-I rounds for your .223?

The smallest you can get High Explosive Incendiary is for a .50. Even then, that's not going to burn down a house.

If you have HEI for anything smaller than a .50, the charge will be too small to do anything.

Yes, because I've actually fired them out of a 240, a 249, and an M-2.
