What's the better game (TWD vs GW2) is just a matter of opinion. I, for example, can't imagine to really have fun in GW because I am not into classic RPGs at all, but it still deserves the GOTY-title as much as TWD does.
And TWD has not won because it was a game full of addictive content, but because it is unique in many ways and brought a whole genre into a new direction.
GW2 was just another very good RPG from what I could gather.
It seems like you are not that fimiliar with older MMO RPG's. But GW2 kind of also brought the genre into a new direction. The questing system was fixed and made better and that was the main problem with every MMO RPG. The drop system was also tweaked for the better and every MMO after GWW" used the same system. There is no more loot stealing, or kill stealing (when u wait for something to spawn so that u can kill it and get the item u want but someone else just happen to drop by when it spawns and hit it first so they get the loot). I think u get what i am trying to say here, GW2 changed alot of -blam!- for the better.Yes, Battlefield also added a whole new way of destruction that was never there in a FPS and other games also had features that brought the genre forward. That's not what I mean with a "new direction" though.
What TWD achieved (I assume you didn't play it) is far more. It's not really easy to explain... it's like "Journey" or something: It found a whole new way to bring it's message that is unique in gaming.
I understand what you are talking about but from what i have seen/heard the game is not the greatest at it's gameplay and that is what matters the most for me in video games.
