I remember the last time I played grand theft auto, it was around some time after it came out on the PS3. I bought Grand theft auto 4. It was my first grand theft auto game. I realized this game was not only boring, the entire franchise is a gimmick. I think the thuggish, sleazy gangster themes are completely repugnant. The game play is terrible, considering the driving (which is 90% of the entire game) is so clumsy, it's nearly impossible to obey traffic laws. I played that game for one evening and then never touched it again. I have played the other GTA games and I know what they're all about.
So why do people like these games? I've come to a fairly easy and simple conclusion. People like these games because they have mass appeal. That's my main problem. When it comes to video games, there's a selection of huge blockbuster titles like GTA, Halo, Call of Duty, gears of way etc. Too many money grubbing publishers, producing practically the same game over and over again. The lack of intuition makes me feel sad, as a gamer. There's been a decrease in selections, a degradation in quality. Resulting in my complete loss of interest. That's the gimmick with grand theft auto.
Maybe I'm too mature to expect the new grand theft auto to offer a new, refreshing and innovating experience.
