I remember the last time I played grand theft auto, it was around some time after it came out on the PS3. I bought Grand theft auto 4. It was my first grand theft auto game. I realized this game was not only boring, the entire franchise is a gimmick. I think the thuggish, sleazy gangster themes are completely repugnant. The game play is terrible, considering the driving (which is 90% of the entire game) is so clumsy, it's nearly impossible to obey traffic laws. I played that game for one evening and then never touched it again. I have played the other GTA games and I know what they're all about.

So why do people like these games? I've come to a fairly easy and simple conclusion. People like these games because they have mass appeal. That's my main problem. When it comes to video games, there's a selection of huge blockbuster titles like GTA, Halo, Call of Duty, gears of way etc. Too many money grubbing publishers, producing practically the same game over and over again. The lack of intuition makes me feel sad, as a gamer. There's been a decrease in selections, a degradation in quality. Resulting in my complete loss of interest. That's the gimmick with grand theft auto.

Maybe I'm too mature to expect the new grand theft auto to offer a new, refreshing and innovating experience.

That was probably the worst one to start with. Try Vice City or San Andreas for a real GTA.

Get the hell off my planet!

Because RockStar tries with GTA, unlike many other developers and publishers...but they kind of dropped the ball on GTA IV.

Sounds like *ahem* every other multiplayer around.

A cornered fox is more dangerous than a jackal.

And from FOX, two phantoms were born.

Because there's usually a lot of freedom and activities to amuse yourself with.

That and running over people in a bus

Honestly, I had fun running over people on the streets a lot in the game. That fun lasted for about one evening. Then when I went to try the missions, I realized they were all going to be driving missions.

Beyond that, I find the gangster theme way too repugnant.

gta 5 is making pretty bold steps in order to freshen the experience beyond a bigger map and better graphics (although they've done that too), so i really don't get your point.

~:O>~~

If you weren't in a tightly packed room with a dozen of your best friends taking turns on an old tube television sometime in the early morning... then you haven't experienced GTA the way it was meant to be.

Games are meant to used as a gateway to other experiences we can't possibly have in real life, and it's best when it's shared with people that are close to you. Today's gamer is too closed off to really get a sense of a game's true value, for this I feel sorry for you generation...

And to prove I'm credible I'm watching the second Lord of Rings on VHS... you can't deny my logic now!!!

I think a lot of people are giving you sensible responses. Not many are saying you are stupid for having that opinion, we are just saying why we like it, which is answering the question from your tittle.

You are such an idiot. This proves that people get stupider when they're around others.

The constant driving can get tedious at times but they try to at least mix it up with some fun missions.

Lol you'd hate Saints Row.

Can not be touched.

I've never been a fan of the GTA games. I tried to get into them, but I just couldn't.

I actually had a lot of fun doing the missions in SR3. GTA IV missions were boring IMHO

GTA III was awesome. The best one in the series. Or San Andres.

It's rather pathetically easy to drive in GTA IV. It's just that too many people who get behind the wheel don't know how to use the brake pedal.

It's not Need For Speed so don't think you can take a corner going 60.

SR3 got boring when you start getting upgrades that turn you into some sort of walking tank.
