Subject: Halo 4 - "People can't except change"

Since people on the Flood are too stupid to understand words, I'm going to picture the differences between the games and with the difference between "additions" and "change".

Halo: CE
Halo 2
Halo 3
Halo Reach/Halo 4

Halo 1-3 added to the established pancakes (eggs and then some delicious bacon). Halo: Reach and Halo 4 turned the pancakes into English Muffins and took away a lot of the things that went tasty with the pancakes.

The English Muffins don't have the same taste or consistency as the pancakes and seem bland or just unpleasant to people who prefer the scrumptious pancakes and the things which used to be included on their platter.

Please care to explain these false assertions? Because I'm pretty sure Halo Reach didn't take anything away from Halo 3. In fact it took away a lot of the slow crappy gameplay and custom games of its predecessor.

I'd much rather point out specific problem areas with the game, justify why those are problems, and suggest fixes so that either the current game or future games can improve.
Hate to break it to you, but no one from 343 works here, so unless you post on Waypoint, you may be tossing off into a volcano, to put it bluntly.
Not really. Rather, by discussing ideas with anyone, regardless of whether or not I'm on Waypoint, the Flood, or simply talking to computer science majors at my university, I'm refining my viewpoint, and in the process of doing so, refining my abillity to come up with those viewpoints.
Yep. The Flood is a distinct community and are (mostly) much more worthwhile to discuss/debate with. It's an excellent way to prepare for hell's fury.

Not to mention there's a lot less topics starting off with 'I've been playing since CE'...

Be sure to tell everyone how cool you are. If you don't tell them, they won't know.

After several Halo games, based upon the same features etc. you'd expect 343i to try and maintain the general formula.

Right there. They did do exactly that, save for a few changes. It is, as you said, generally the same formula.

-Others complaints only the biggest CE fanboys could make. (ie. Useless pistol, boarding vehicles).
I think the Pistol was the worst in Reach and vehicle boarding became ridiculous since Halo 3.

Halo 3:
-Useless sandbox.
Halo 3 had an ok sandbox. Everything feels smoother. And who could forget the Flamethrower and Missile Pod? Also, the BR in Halo 2 and 4 feels slow to me while the BR in Halo 3 feels fast. I guess I like leading my shots.

Posted by: Dark Hunter 2100
Halo 4:
-There are barely any features this game has yet to take from COD, a game from a far different genre of shooters.
Also, no new settings.

Music, dialogue, and gameplay SFX. Why can't we adjust them?

And where is the revert x2 option (kill yourself five or six times and you get reverted to the second last checkpoint) that's been hidden for 4 Halo games ever since it was introduced?

It also took out a heck lot of things Reach re-introduced:

-timed checkpoints. Recently, I've learned that Halo 2 may even have one as well. That just leaves Halo 4 (and possibly ODST) as the only Halo games that lack this
-Ghost's weak spot
-health on HUD

Does anyone care what the developers want? They're fans just as much as we are if not more.
All they want is money. Nothing else.

I do not want to stop asking. I do not ask to stop wanting.

Halo had unnecessary, detrimental change injected into it ever since 2004. I've learned to live with it and just play the game for the overall experience (single player wise) regardless of it. Which makes me love Halo 4, because the story was written beautifully (IMO. I wish I could get the time to finish up that analysis I've been typing and show you guys why) and the aesthetics, voice acting, and, IMO, music were done just as well.

I once made a thread asking for Halo 4 haters to come up with changes for Halo 4, new and innovative ones.

It became a hot topic, lots of people replied.

And you know what?

Other than, "make it like Halo 3", not a single idea was posted.
You asking the wrong people.

I made plenty of suggestions, like making Dawn play out differently on Heroic and Legendary. Dawn gives you the same QTEs (Elite ambush, open door) and forces you to stay in that cryo tube. CE PoA has no Elite waiting in the dark room and you don't need to punch a door open to progress. And it goes right to cutscene after the opening cutscene.

All that is needed for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.

If they change it: OMFG nostalgia ruined, change it back!
If they don't change it: OMFG same game every year

Either way, there will be haters. There has NEVER been a Halo game without a large amount of haters.

Suck it up and adapt, or go find a new game to play.

i stopped caring about halo. its dead and i cant do anything about it, halo 4 was worse than i expected it to be.

Agreed.

Forcing the door open should have been like the first time you played CE, where you had to break the door open with a standard melee, no need for an animation.

Dodging scene was okay I guess, though I wish there would have been an option for it to be a cutscene.

Elite melee QTE should have been an actual Elite roaming around the area (speaking of which, what the -blam!- ever happened to roaming? So much more believable in CE).

etc.

Probably because Bungie isn't making the game anymore and 343i wanted to give it their own style to it.

yeah what's up with Chief doing all this pulling and shoving when he could just punch? Like in the Proto-Gravemind cutscene.

It'd have been more convincing if Chief didn't look in the direction you were supposed to go.

Agreed. Then we could use it's sword or save it for later. Stalking's still in Halo 4 but it never happens by default. I enjoyed CE's encounters because I had plenty of opportunities to get the jump on the enemy. Now it seems like they're always expecting you or a bunch of marines are alerting them. So many fights in Reach would play out much better if Noble Team weren't around.
