I am a pharmaceutical scientist. I received my Masters degree in Pharmaceutics from the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia in 2010, after working as a Pharmacist for 4 years. I currently work in King of Prussia, PA, and focus on the analytical chemistry of small molecule APIs. My clients include some of the most well known big pharma companies in the world.

ESRB has no legal authority, so parents and retailers can go on and keep ignoring it all they want. I'm 26, and I recognize that this idea, whether or not it is implemented, is entirely ludicrous, and only serves to drive game sales right over the cliff.

Foot, meet bullet.

The objective of war is not to die for your cause. It is to make your enemies die for theirs.

Something like that would decimate the sales for the console. The majority of games currently for the Xbox 360 are rated M and a large percentage of the people who play those games are under 17. Doing something like that would not be a wise decision for Microsoft as a business. I doubt they'll do it.

In England, shops are displaying signs in the games section (or just the shop if It's GAME) that after a certain date, which I've forgotten, you will need Id to buy any game above a 12 rating. I didn't know that they didn't do this in the first place.

The acceptance of defeat is an invitation for its repetition.

I'm of age and that is nonsense. Why would I want more steps in order to play my games? I already have to turn the console on, sign into my account and enter my password, open up the xbox put the game in, download updates, wait through loading screens and finally get to play my game.

What in any way could having to get up and walk over, swipe (for every single game) a card through a console, have to benefit me as a gamer.

Parents already buy children these games, what's stopping them from using their own government issued card to allow their child to continue playing these games.

Not only that, but you aren't factoring in the fact that there are other countries in the world that don't even have these card things. As a Canadian how the hell would that even work?

It doesn't make sense to devote the manpower and money towards something like this.

Studies show that men think about sex every 7 seconds. I do my best to eat hotdogs in under 6, just so things don't get weird.

Please allow me to introduce Myself

Why would it do that? The "Average" gamer is older than you think...

I am beginning to think you guys don't want your parents to see your games. You may know full well they would not approve, and want to keep them in the dark. To the point you will just say that the gaming industry would crash.

The biggest problem I see is the annoyance of forgetting my DL in the damned xbox.

Everyone is entitled to their own wrong opinion.

I'm part of the Bungie.net Minecraft group/server called SeptaCrafters
We're a Bungie.net group that goes to our very own Bungie server. Most players are from the Halo community either off Bungie itself or through word to Halo friends.

I hope the rumor isn't true. You really want the government to control gaming now too? Are you crazy?!

Couldn't the parents just swipe for the kids regardless?

That's what I was thinking, or the kid nicks it from their parents and swipes it to authorize the game/etc.

I already work for the DoD, using my CAC to start my xbox would be really funny.

I would also just buy so much popcorn and watch millions of underage kid's freak out.

That's an awful rumour, it is not illegal to play an 17 or 18+ game if you are aged less than that, it's just illegal to buy one.

That rule would be fascism at its best anyway.

No the rating system is there as a guidelines, as is the MPAA Rating system. If you are 11 you aren't able to buy a ticket for a R rated movie. Why should an 11 year old be able to play a M rated game.

Its not about maturity in all cases. The idea behind this rumor, is that parents should have to show that an adult is present when someone is playing these games.

Currently, the system is that any kid with $60 can walk into a Target, buy Black Ops II, go home and play it. No parental supervision at all. Yet that same kid can't see a R rated movie without an adult there. Why is there this difference?

I know its a rumor, but I think its not such a bad idea. Its not telling you you can't play the game, just that an adult has to be present. Like a R rated movie.

1.huh? My entire stance is that the parents should be the ones deciding all of this not the government. You shouldn't be a parent in the first place if you need the government to be doing your role.

I wasn't a crazy movie kid when i was younger but if a R rated movie came out and they knew i wanted to see it they just took me. I can't even think of an R rated movie I saw as a kid which is probably because they shouldn't have been R rated to start with.

The Parents bought the damn game in the first place. I didn't even bother trying to by M rated games from gamestop when i was a kid because i knew they would ask for an ID if not outright say "you are not 17". I don't know if walmart does this, but seeing as the case are behind a case which somebody has to unlock i doubt they have issues.

2. How about the parent just take the game with them when they aren't around? My friends parents did that when i was younger. I see no logical reason as to why they can't do that unless they are stupid and again shouldn't be a parent to start with.

What if i lose MY ID somewhere in the house? Do i seriously need to find my ID right then and there so i play a stupid video game? I generally leave my wallet in my card so i avoid losing it in the first place. This is overboard and stupid.

3.Do we have any accurate statistics that can represent whatever this crap is? Until you post a video with you grabbing a 10 year old kid, giving him 60 bucks, and film that kid buying the game all buy himself i won't buy that.

I love how you said target because you know gamestop checks for ID's. I don't know any Kid that goes to target to start with since it is expensive. I don't know many kids walking around with 60 bucks in hand, nor do i see kids going to target instead of gamestop or a videogame store to buy a video game.

A kid isn't going to be able to buy a M rated game from Wall mart, K mart, or gamestop and those are the main place's if not only general places that can get games. Who the hell goes to target to buy video games?

4.It is a stupid idea and if you have kids you are a stupid parent for being so goddamn lazy.
