I'm hated by many, but loved by none.

Is there a better, cheaper internet service better than verizon? Verizon is so horrible for online gameplay? Anything better and cheaper?

Most of what I say is sarcasm, the rest is of the highest intellect.

Tell her to get it or you'll have no friends.

Well, here we are. I guess that it was destined to come to this.

You have FiOS and want something better? Or do you have a non-fiber-optic Verizon connection?

Most internet providers are terrible because you typically (even if you're lucky,) get the choices of Verizon, WB, or Comcast.

Teh puma is just waiting for Google to move out of Kansas, and spread their services across the country, because their service is x100,000,000 times better.

I have sudden link but I'm not sure where else they're at. They've been good to me.

A pity. That particular offering from Verizon is excellent.

In many areas, ISP's are given (by local government) exclusive rights to particular areas. For example, I can get ATT-Uverse in my town, but not FiOS.

What options are available in your area? Because between new user sign-on deals, bundling with wireless provider(s) and other deals, you may be able to explain the upgrade as an actual cost savings.

I like shorts. They're comfy and easy to wear.

Tell her that low-speed internet is linked to aneurysms in teenagers.

Heh heh... cox

OT: xfinity is ok, stay away from dish, Verizon might be decent if upgraded... Not sure what else to say. Just basing this off of experiences had over here, and what teh puma has heard.

Some of this may depend on what wireless phone service you and your family use.

But (for example) if you are on ATT, and the ISP offering in your area is U-Verse, it could replace your cable TV, ISP, even phone and link to your wireless phone account. It's fiber-optic based (in some cases it is fiber to the house, in other cases it is copper over the last jump).

For example, I dropped Dish Network and Comcast for U-Verse and got television and Internet for about what one was costing me.

That's just one example, but if you know what services your family uses, you can do some research and present it to your mom as a way to not only save money, but improve service.

Thanks, Recon.
Also, the reason why we don't have Fios is because they say we're too far away from the Verizon center to get it installed. The internet we currently have is put under so much strain because there's 6 wireless devices in this household, so something stronger and faster would be nice. I'm leaning on asking her to get Comcast or TimeWarner.
