You need to keep in mind also that with The Walking Dead it isn't a typical virus that just sprung up and is spread by a bite, everyone is infected and reanimates after death. Thats a pretty big problem.

Always bothered me because throughout the first bit of the show you saw plenty of people with no head trauma that were just dead.

i.e., when they first get to the traffic pileup in Season 2 and Karl goes to retrieve the axes from the dead guy's truck and they are tucked under his arm (and he pulls the dead guy onto him and he gets scared). The dead guy had no head injury but was just dead - why didn't he reanimate?

Yea, that kind of got me as well. Spoiler below**

It's weak but in season 3 they do explain that the dead can starve, so that would be the only excuse I could think of. But you're right, it doesn't make all that much sense when you look back on the series up to the point of the big twist at the end of season 2.
Thats already been explained. The people were dead because it was massive car accidents. The crashes caused enough trauma to their brain to kill them permanently.

It's possible because the virus is airborne and everyone is already infected. Every single person who dies, regardless of circumstances, gets reanimated as a zombie. Just look at the numbers of deaths in the US every day... now imagine that this number of people roams the streets to kill everyone they cross. They don't even need to be fast.

They can only die with a completely destroyed brain and they require a minimum of care like sleep, food, and relationships.

It's very possible that the invasion happens with an airborne virus like that.

I found a plot hole in LOTR. Why don't they just fly to Mordor on the eagles?
Why didn't they go back in time and kill Voldemort?

You make a valid point

Soul of the mind, key to life's ether
Soul of the lost, withdrawn from its vessel
May strength be granted so the world might be mended...
So the world might be mended...

Not really, if they go back in time and kill Voldemort when he was a kid, which I assume is what he is saying, then that would change the future and end up changing and making a paradox.. Harry Potter handles Time Travel really well, imo.

If you go back and watch that scene, you'll see that the truck that the dead body is in has no outside damage.

I'm 23, I have a house, dog, girlfriend, job and I have no interest in any fanboyism so if you're thinking about sending me a childish PM, don't be surprised when I don't call back.

Ever been in a prolonged fight? You get tired and start to slow down, now imagine smashing in the skulls of a crowd of people after days/weeks/months of starving and scavenging for food.

You're not as good at zombie killing as you think.

Theres a whole thing on this somewhere online, talking about the flaws within this, even J. R. R Tolken mentions that they are dangerous to the plot.

I thought the final scene of the second series was a hole for the plot, no anyone can become infected.

Shakes Magic 8 Ball

You've looked so deeply into this and presented so much information that completely destroys the entire idea.

Or wait, you didn't.

Heres a plot hole......Zombies.

They can't exist its impossible.

  • 01.02.2013 11:24 AM PDT

Ever notice how they skip on the outbreak itself and start the show after a few weeks or months or however long it took for society to fall? Wonder why that is? Because it could NEVER happen, and the only way to make a zombie plot work is to skip the beginning because in reality it'd be contained and neutralized unbelievably fast.

Fear/panic make the living part of the problem. If you really think most people would keep their head when seeing the dead reanimate and start snacking on the living then you give humanity far too much credit. After people have come to terms with what is going on, then they can react, but by then a fair amount of damage would be done.
