13.72 billion years in the making.

On December 1st, 2012, I met Neil deGrasse Tyson. I shook the man's hand, and even made him laugh. Not much else to do with my life now.

Its called evolution.
See now that is what i dont get. Its like evolution is some magical entity that knows how to make humans. Can something biological make us so perfect?

So I see you don't know how evolution works.

Its always strange at how all our body parts are in the place that makes sense. Even with our mouths.

Is it? The characteristics that make you a better survival machine are the ones that are more likely to get passed on. That's not to say you're the optimal machine; there's plenty of room for improvement, and natural selection ensures that improvement will occur.

Wait... Creationists vs evolutionists here?

OH BOY!
One of the biggest reasons people don't support evolution is because they don't entirely understand it.
That is why i want to understand it. Nobody has fully explained it to me. I got a lot of knowledge from this thread though so thanks
You're welcome. I'm not here to jump down anyone's throat or anything. There is nothing more powerful than knowledge.

Really, evolutionary biology is a complex subject, and I am by no means an expert. There are a few people here in the Flood who are studying evolutionary biology, and it would be nice if they were online to give their input.

Read a few articles. Watch a few YouTube videos. Perhaps your interest will grow. Then read a few books.

It's a large task to understand scientific fields. Lots of reading.
Here's a great video explaining evolution.

''Hell is other people.''

What a surprise. This thread somehow managed to turn into a "Creationism vs. Evolution" argument.

Great job, OP. Look what you've done.

I don't see how we can improve any more. We just need to keep trying to find cures for defects that will probably never go away

millions of years of genetic mutation and thus evolution. The skull is the safest place for the brain to be located, otherwise the animals with brains in different areas would not have died out, leaving only animals with brains in their skulls left.

How about getting rid of that damn appendix? Before appendectomies, appendicitis killed up to 24% of the population.

And how do we get rid of that through evolution? Since everyone is born with one.

You don't see anything that can be improved or you don't see how the improvement would occur? Because the improvement is occurring whether or not you think it should; genes will continue to be selfish.

You don't need to rid of it. If it causing you some issues then have it removed, if not leave it alone.

It doesnt do anything though. But it can cause problems. We would be better without it

That's why I said if it does cause problems and you want a doctor remove it then go for it. I don't seem to have a problem with mine so I'm good with it.

The same way anything happens through natural selection. Genetic mutation, different phenotypes, reproduction, and approximately one bazillion years (give or take).

Sure but why do we have an appendix if it doesn't do anything?

It has been suggested that the appendix is what remains today of the cecum that helped our ancestors digest plants. It lost its function as its function was no longer needed. Perhaps you are witnessing the phasing-out of the appendix over time.

It has also been suggested (more recently) that the appendix does have a function as a storage chamber for good bacteria that hang out in our body.

I believe it's just something the creator put there. Maybe later they'll find a purpose for it.

Well, here we are. I guess that it was destined to come to this.

Didn't read to this point, so I am only going to answer the subject line.

Because if it was in my lap, I would get crumbs on it. And that would suck.

I doubt anything will change where we will need an appendix

No. It use to help digest plant cellulose. But our diets changed and we lost the need for it.
