I do not want to stop asking. I do not ask to stop wanting.

I don't mind violence, but when I don't expect it I'm often put off by it. For example, I wasn't expecting the amount of graphic content in Far Cry 3, which sort of detracted from my experience- a great contrast to my love for the Cerebral Bore from Turok 2.

It isn't so much about the ability to kill things, it's mostly the same reason why we play Mario, Final Fantasy, Zelda, Metal Gear, or Castlevaina: we're doing something that we wouldn't normally do and taking part in a role/situation we don't find ourselves in often. So it peaks interest and engages you to play. Violence is just part of it.
So a psychotic murderer would play Viva Pinata or Farm Simulator?

Probably.

Humans are naturally attracted to violence. Roots of this can be found in our tendency to fight among ourselves and can be seen in the gladiator fights of ancient societies.

Violent games have gained popularity due to the fact that we are unable to release our violent impulses elsewhere without consequence, and killing/fighting games are naturally popular among people as they lack those consequence and reward players for slaughtering one another.

This times 1000.

I think it's to do with our natural instinct to dominate. With modern society, we don't wish to kill, but when playing video games that include killing, without any actual death or danger, something inside us comes to life.

It's just one of the best ways to dramatize the successes and failures of a good problem solving exercise.

"Life is constantly fleeting from your grasp even from the very day it's bestowed upon you, but the shadow of death is always there, waiting for its chance to take you away."

"Even though many may not think so, ignorance and innocence are one and the same. The only difference is that one sounds nicer."

"I once knew a man who spent his entire life contemplating where we go after our death....it's a shame he realized it a second too late to tell anyone."

...because violence is fun for me in games. Not much to it aside from that.

Oh yeah, since somebody does not believe what YOU believe; that makes us vapid...
I cannot grasp that what you call "Something happened to nothing, and that nothing became something, and it was smaller than than a period."

I think one reason could be because they are a way to get rid of some of your anger and aggression.
And because they're fun often.

I guess it helps us vent aggression and satisfies our need for violence we can't legally satisfy in real life.

But im never mad or stressed when i play and i dont want to do anything illegal. I think its just natural theres really no reason why we like it
