BE HUMAN

Fight for Earth. Fight for Humanity.

Okay, if they want to erase ALL violence, why attack the media?

MEDIA:

Violent Movies

Violent Video Games

Violent CD's (via public message, unless you make them into those ninja stars)

Violent books (may sound silly but read the Walking Dead, it's brutal and would give a mental cripple some ideas lol)

WHEREAS, IF THEY BANNED THE FOLLOWING, CRIME W O U L D GO DOWN:

Alter the Constitution so that you are NOT legally obliged to carry a firearm. ('MURICA!)

Stricter laws on the purchase of firearms/ weapons (such as knives)

Better care for the mentally ill. (The shooter himself was mentally screwed, so who was looking after him? NOBODY)

  • 01.02.2013 4:44 PM PDT

This is just stupid. Violent video games don't cause shootings. There's no established link. It saddens me that humans need to turn to a material object with a quick solution instead of actually looking at the real problem.

Where does it say that you're obliged to carry a firearm?

So people are blaming video games for the shooting of 26 people?

Call me crazy, but I thought it would make more sense to blame the guy who shot 26 people...
Because scapegoating video games, movies, and music is so much easier than addressing the real problem: responsible gun ownership and access to proper mental health care.
Responsible gun owners are not the problem.

So that leaves the obvious answer of more focus on proper mental health assessment and care.
My point was that if the shooter's mother had properly and safely stored her guns, he would have had more trouble carrying out his plan.

I really don't understand why I have a signature.

You could probably go there with a big bag and just collect a lot of the games people give away...

Just a thought...

It's written in the constitution. I don't know where, I'm not American :P

Saw it on the news, because gun-pro rednecks were screaming that you can't change the constitution.

  • 01.02.2013 4:49 PM PDT

Hey, if it makes them feel better, great.

Just don't start pretending that there's any evidence to show that doing this will help.

  • 01.02.2013 4:50 PM PDT

"What are we holding on to, Sam?"
"That there's some good in this world, and it's worth fighting for."

Sigh.......I understand that these people are hurting and are looking for something to blame. I get that. But I think this is obviously taking it too far. While I don't deny that violence might have given the shooter some additional sadistic enjoyment that he channeled through video games, millions of totally healthy people play them, too. I think their mentality at the moment is clouding their judgment.

Unlikely, and pointless to speculate upon.

If she had a safe, or something else, who's to say he wouldn't know the code/password or be able to figure it out?

That situation can also be said to have been 'preventable' (similar to storing the guns more securely) if they had a proper way to treat and care for the mentally unstable instead of shoving them off onto their relatives.

Either way, this is off-topic so....

OT: Destroying those games will do nothing but temporarily make those people feel like they did something beneficial.

No....that's not a part of it. You have the RIGHT to carry a gun, but there's no obligation. Most people I know don't even have one. If you're talking about the second amendment it only says that the right to bear arms is not to be infringed.

That's because crazy gun nuts make for better television than a pro-gun rights activist who is able to clearly lay out their views and ideas.

Also, since countries such as Australia banned guns, their crime rates only went up.

Yeah. Rednecks will be rednecks. Hell, they're not the ones doing the shootings though. Do I think guns are good? Meh. But there certainly isn't a reason to take them away or a reason to make it an obligation to carry one.
