Well at least they are noticing the other violent media, still retarded though.

I did breathe a sigh of relief at that, yet the name clearly singles out "Violent Video Games." In fact, none of those things deserve to get burnt. It honestly baffles me how people came to believe violence stems from such things. Like, someone tell me. Please?
I used to pretend to be james bond after watching a film.

So far I have no murders under my belt, nor women. I must be different.

They are not rebel's.

How did a country that had the same origins end up so messed up compared to its mother nation and its brothers??

The 2nd Amendment is the only major difference, so you figure it out.

That's a silly trivialization of the richness of each nations founding. And who said they're "so messed up"? There's much great about the Americans other countries can and should strive for. There are also many great things the Americans should seek to emulate. Granted I think many would agree when I say the Americans have a much harder time doing that.

That is hardly the only major difference. I sincerely hope you don't believe that.

For starters you can buy guns in Canada, and many people here own them. The process in obtaining a firearm legally here just involves getting a licence. Which means you have to pass a little test and background checks. Our treatment of mental health is actually likely a larger difference in this case.

Muffins are just ugly cupcakes

I think that instead, they should incinerate the parents who buy the games/movies/music for their kids.

The only actual debate currently happening is about whether or not America is -blam!- compared to Australia, Canada, and the UK, which has nothing to do with the topic at hand. Everyone else is just commenting on the fact that this is a ridiculous thing to do.

There isn't much anecdotal evidence being presented apart from for an off-topic debate.

It is a larger difference. And there's a different cultural attitude towards gun ownership, not violent media, but gun ownership. When we're talking about violent media in America we might as well be talking about it in Canada. You'll have the same violent show airing on the same channel at the same time. Or games releasing same day with the exact same ESRB warnings.

So I do think this has something to do with the topic at hand, which some don't seem to think. To talk about the effect violent media has on Americans (or doesn't) we should look at the way that media affects other countries.

I know it's a difference. I'm just saying it is not the only major one.

I know that the culture around guns is vastly different in the two countries and that is also likely a big part of it. But I wouldn't put that down to being just the 2nd amendment either.

Country: United States.
State: Pennsylvania.
County: Warren.
I graduated from high school on June-11-2011. I'm 19 right now. I'm turning 20 in December. I like playing video games, and board games. I like reading Sci-Fi, and World War II novels, and what not.

Just becuase some close minded idiot starts a program doesn't mean everyone will follow him.

  • 01.03.2013 5:24 AM PDT

So dumb, the people who condem violent video games. They don't realize that these games don't promote any violence whatsoever. It's purely entertainment. It's like saying the death of the person(s) caused WW1. Everyone knows thats not the case. Therefore the problem was the guy who already had mental issues. The games were simply a ignition if anything to his breakdown.

Also the AR is actually good in CQB now and no longer a glorified baseball bat.

I just realized who I haven't heard spout off about this whole thing: Jack Thompson!

Also, I still say that the whole reaction to the Sandy Hook shooting is an overreaction. Yes, people are trying to find answers. No, banning guns/games/whatever is not the answer.

Shootings like this are exceptions to the rule, not the rule. IF guns or even mental health care were to blame, why aren't the millions of people in the US with chemical imbalances in their brain and/or guns out there committing mass shootings?

Yes, this may have been a failure in this specific case, but that doesn't mean the sky is falling.

Are they going to destroy the irresponsible parents that purchased those games for the kids? Are they going to destroy the TV's that show the violent programs? Will they also destroy the networks, the people that are working on the said networks who make sure said programs are being broadcasted?
Will they destroy the electricity that powers those computers that people work on to produce said violent movies, games and other form of media?
Will they go destroy the power plants that produce said electricity that powers the computers?
These guys might just blame Thomas Edison for "Violent forms of Media".
