Subject: Our existence, as a whole, is just plain depressing

-The Nasty Officah-

Think about it. Before we were born, what were we, exactly? Nobody knows, and I don't think we will ever know that. So we're born, raised in this dangerous world where things as small as a spider bite can kill you, and whatever the length of your life is, you're gone.

Close family members like children and grandchildren remember you, but after that, unless you become extremely famous or if you make a major breakthrough that changes the world, you're forgotten forever. Why are we so fortunate to be born in this day and age? Why us? I know religion plays a huge part in this, but what happens to us when we die? Whenever I think about this I get chills down my spine and my fear of dying returns. Maybe there is a glorius after life for us when we pass, but what were we doing before we lived? Everything in this damn world does not make any sense, and I fear the day when I'm older ready to face death head on.

Anyway, does anybody else ever think about this?

I'm quite happy to have the chance to experience life. It's a hell of a ride.

"It is the cruelest fate, to have written words that meant well and see them made wicked and unwise. What was meant to encourage life, used instead to justify taking it."

I'm religious, so I don't worry too much about what comes after death. However, I am afraid to die a painful or slow death, I'd prefer to die of old age after a full life.

Unto the Fray we go

Nature reclaims our bodies and what we contribute after death benefits future generations.

Tis teh circle of life mah man.

The way I see it, you're born, you find people you love, then you die. People miss you then become depressed. Life is pretty cruel :/

:)

The only thing I'm depressed about is the point in time I live in.

I feel as if I have no purpose. If I was in the past I could help explore the world or contribute to the growing culture (if I was in the peaceful, successful ones of course) or in the future when we colonise space.

Yeah? Like where? My parents are super religious and I was born into a Christian family, but I'll be completely honest: I've frequently questioned my beliefs. I just wonder how an after life can even be remotely possible. Anyway, if there is a "judgement day" of some sort, that's when everyone will find out, right?

I know what you mean, bro. We're living in an age where we're rapidly developing new technologies while consuming our planet's natural resources so quickly that if we don't stop we're going to have to live with the consequences.

Never make me angry. I am a Hitman and I can easily find you and take you out.

Just do something you like. And if you have dream follow that. So am I going to travel when I'm older. I'm 18 now and think about doing so at around 23-25

But it doesn't matter who remembers you, only your family counts. And that you have a fun time here on earth. :)

He who wishes for peace must first prepare for war.

It's depressing that we have the ability to be depressed.

The Universe is losing energy regardless of what man does. Suppose we do become interplanetary; eventually, we will all be nothing.
