The first chapter of Twilight

Twilight is an absolute masterpiece of literature, with more depth, symbolism, and themes than any book I have ever read. In the future, this will be looked back upon as the defining series of our generation. The very fact that you can say this, obviously joking, is appalling. You're not funny.

it's easy when %40 of your book is your main characters quoting a better book to each other

Why so much hate on the Great Gatsby?
I thought it was great! You really need to look deeper if you're not getting it. Everything symbolizes something about the America of the era in which it takes place.

Who the hell cares about the little symbols hidden in that horrid text, if you can even call them that. "Oh, the color of the light at the end of the dock is green, and green means GO!" PSSH, hogwash.

Hahaha, that's funny I thought you said my stats will be on Waypoint now. Wait, you were serious? Then, Nooooooooooooo!!!

What about all those commas and periods (that are the key components of literature) that are not there. Yup, the greatest book of literature for our generation. We're in trouble.

I had the hardest time getting through My Antonia. I just thought it was so bad.

To Kill A Mocking Bird, nothing against the book, I think it's pretty good, but the experience that I had when reading it in freshmen English wasn't a good one. We read along with an audio tape and anytime the n word was said, this annoying black kid started acting all stupid and getting butt hurt, plus since I was one of three black kids in the class any time the word was said everyone would look at me and my friend(who was the third of the three black students in the class) as if they were expecting me and him to react the same way. Instead we just laughed anytime it was said.

"What's a team shoot and what's a wraith?!"
"It means we all shoot at the big blue thing together!"
"Okay!"

Madame Bovary. This book is absolutely horrid. I hate French authors now.

Smaaarrrt, that is actually really smart I would have never have thought of doing that in your position. Wait, you were doing it because it was the exact opposite of what they thought you would do, right? If so, pat on the back dude for showing them up.

I related to the character like you but found it to be the best book ever, for whatever reason. I liked that someone (though fictional) thought like I did for once, mostly because I was in a class full of idiots and pompous kissasses.

We weren't allowed books in my school. Too many kids were using them as tobacco papers. Not even joking.

It's not the light which is important, but it's Gatsby's reaching for the light. The light represents his dream, the American Dream. It is an unobtainable dream. He, Gatsby, of New Money, wishes to tread among "Old Money". In the changing America of Unequaled Corruption and Self-Interest the book is set. Rampant Consumerism, Apathy of Consequences, and the Changing Times are all themes explored in the novel.

You, my friend, do not read between the lines.

I enjoyed the book. But it bothered me to read it, I had mixed emotions over it.

I find it funny too, because I was also in a class full of idiots and may I say, "Phonies"

Agreed. All the changes are good and add variety. Do we really want another Halo 3? Just running around with one gun and no armor abilities? It's good that 343 wants to try something new. Do we really want the same thing for three more games?
