This idea will have to be linked with that kids idea, of being able to pick up objects, and place them in you car etc etc, (SEE MY LAST POST ON THAT SUBJECT) Well, at the beginning of the game, say an 'Attack-Defend' Variant the defending team, will have the 'COMMANDER' option which with resources (not sure on idea on aqquiring resources) will construct a base, obviously lets be serious here, im not talking castles, but a small controllable base, with a vehicle or two, turrets and a gate, and even a bunker, i dont no all of tis would be customised, with all kinds of areas such as bunkers,Armorys, turret control panels, garage for vehicles, medical tent? The possibilities are endless, yet you can only have a certain amount of objects, and the maps could be a city map but pretty big, but these maps would be exclusive to these gametypes. Similar to a blood gultch bunker, smaller open air, add a wall or 2, a gate, and a 'Turf' Medical tent, similar to the E3 demo beginning of HALO 2, omg this idea is extremely complex, and i congradulate somebody who has read up to here, but this needs to be more in depth, also the attacking team Commander would be able to purcahse guns vehicles and equipment just for the beginning of the game the same as the Defending commander. Obviously this is only one gametype, and it would require objectives something simple, kill the other team or CTF, or assault, when you blow them up, But this 'COMMANDER' Option could only be used in this gametype, as it wold simply ruin other favorited as slayer, ctf etc, thank you for reading i will happily accept feedback, GOOD or BAD, now please VOTE.

yes AUS it would only be for that gametype, would be simple yet i still havent thought of a way to get resources, perhaps like PDZ there is a starting amount, and you can only get a limited amount of one item. So there is mixed strategy

Maybe you get more funding by destroying the enemy soldiers or materials.

I think this might be interesting, but then again this is an FPS.

has anybody ever played giants citizen kabuto, the build style on that would be perfect for what he's talking about, when you build a wall it has a pre set part of each cliff which it builds a wall between with a gate in the middle you can build heli pads and shops and medic hut sort of things and every building has a pre set build location inside your base area. but you just need to get the stuff to feed your workers , obviously halo would be different but the basics of giants build style would be good

Why not have grunts build it?

That would be hilarious.

with the grunts that's sorta how they do it in giants you find these wierd alians like grunts that abuse you for making them work and you'v gota feed them and find them beer so they'll work, in the halo versian you should have to get money to pay the grunts or engineers.

HMmmm, we no as their doing it or theyll die, to get resources is not related to the grunts, it should be a start limit and an amount you get when you win/lose keep replying and voting people

Glitch100, go play StarCraft, not to insult you or anything but it's a great game and looks a lot like your description but in a standard RTS view and not in first person. Unfortunatly most of the time when you mix 2 good different games you get a bad game.

g1g010 i agree with you but i think your a bit confused, im not talking about building harvesters and armies, just a simple base to defend, not a fortress.

I'm not particularly fond of this idea.

It would require an entire new User Interface and would effectively make for a game within a game.

I agree with this guy but at least you thought of something original.

Not nessecarily, there could be a small computer in which to purchase items, and each player could buy certain items for the small base, that way there wont be a 'COMMANDER' But there will be a 'COMMAND' console. Which would be easier and wouldnt require a tutorial

If you have to harvest ressources to get materials, you would have to command some units to do it, and it would be extremly difficult to to manage all that while you still fight in First Person.
Also I think it looks like StarCraft even if you don't create units, because in StarCraft you already have the units because of your houses (Supply Depots) and you have to build a special building to train people (Barracks) and you have to pay for each unit for its weapon and armor.
In your version of the game the difference is that it's more realistic, and you don't see your units "spawn" in front of a particular building, but you would have to pay for their weapons and armors also.

A Halo Strategy game would be good (like they planned to do at first) but it's not the way Halo 3 will be, because it's the sequel to Halo and Halo 2 and will have a similar gameplay. They could do a Strategy game it won't be Halo 3, it will be a new Halo game with new HUD, new controls, new gameplay.

g1g You are assuming and have yet again got confused you dont have to harvest materials otherwise, yes it would basically be an RTS lol you get a starting amount of MONEY or RESOURCES to purchase with, we dont mine or harvest, and to get materials it could be something simple like killing or getting an objective.
