I actually agree with the OP, I never dated in high school and now it's kicking me in the butt in college. I lack confidence and skills I could have picked up in high school.

In high school, you need nothing. But after high school, if your foresight wasn't long enough, you drop into a pit of sorrow and regret, living a boring and tedious existence selling t-shirts at Walmart.

lol no

Not if you get good grades. Someone *cough* the OP *cough* obviously didn't try hard enough in school.

Clearly your reading comprehension is utter -blam!-. I specifically stated that you need a balance between school and social living.

> is studying biochemistry to hopefully make it into my school's medical program

Clearly your proofreading is utter -blam- as you made a huge generalization that is far from correct.

Proofreading? I'm sorry, was I supposed to maintain perfect grammar in a post that's going to be largely overlooked by most of this forum?

Anyway, my point holds true: Those who don't develop social skills (especially those with the ladies) will have it come back to bite them later.

Every post whining about the weekly update delays it by 5 minutes.

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim
Because it was grassy and wanted wear,
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I marked the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

That wasn't what I was referring to when I said proofreading, and that definitely wasn't your original point.

I wouldn't say it's crucial. Like Cam Camm said, you just need to be connected with people. Friends and/or family. Eventually you'll meet someone who shares your goofy interest and likes you because you're you.

Ya dig?

lol high school relationships...

You don't even learn anything while dating in high school, it's just bam bam bam bam, one after the other making the same mistakes over and over.

Just make friends, talk to them, hang out, have fun. If you don't have a girlfriend, learn from those around you who do. You don't need to be a ladies man/player in high school to do well socially. You've got way more time (that's way more gratifying) after high school.

Actually, it all ties together.

Honestly, the only motives you could have behind being so incredibly opposed to my post is being a fugly fggt that no girl wants to date. Otherwise, you would definitely agree with me.

Reachhhhhhhh

So many of the relationships I see in my school are so superficial it is laughable. It is as if the simple act of having a significant other is more important than the person them self. I'd rather be considered "single" surrounded by friends than attach myself to this one other person for no reason other than an outside image.

I wasn't "so incredibly opposed." I pointed out one thing that was blatantly false and then you jumped all over me like an attack dog, only dumber. Keep generalizing.

  • 01.02.2013 8:40 PM PDT

I disagree, while I don't think someone should avoid dating I don't see it as being "crucial."

I mean, I dated in High School but it isn't essential. You can be social and stuff, but you don't have to date anyone. Enjoy your years of independence.

-blam!- that

Most people in high school aren't mature enough for a fully committed relationship.
This. IMO, most highschool relationships are a complete waste of time, and saying you need someone to make you happy is terrible advice. How can you expect someone else to be happy with you if you cant be happy with yourself?

Not that highschool dating is bad and you can certainly learn a lot of life lessons from it, but if youre looking for any serious relationship or expecting it to bring you true happiness youre doing it wrong.
