Being in the state of connection with one or more people, is important in life. Not dating.
High school has nothing to do with it.

Thought I'd add that.

This. And some people go so head-first into dating that it's very detrimental to them too. I have a couple of friends who have always had a boyfriend since they first started dating and have never been single more than a month. They both feel lost without one because they just don't seem to be sure who they are without having someone around who will tell them who to be.

This also applies to just friends as well.

Man, I couldn't have said it better.

Hopefully he's implying that it's not and should never be an actual issue worth stressing over, making it the absolute most CRUCIAL thing in life and future and zomg so srs.

High school dating isn't always serious relationships. Generally speaking. But yes, it's not something to be worried over. Once high school is over, you might see your friends for that summer after graduation but then everyone goes their ways.

I agree that it's not something to be taken too seriously but I don't agree that it's not something necessarily worth stressing over. I dated a girl for nearly two years in high school and if I wasn't a little stressed when it was finally ending then I'd certainly think those two years were a waste. There has to be a good balance between realizing it's not the end of the world but also caring enough to put effort into the relationship and making it worth it.

Having relationships with people while in high school is not the same as thinking you need to be in a romantic relationship with someone while in high school - in order to have a successful life in the future (as the OP basically states). When I said it's something that shouldn't be stressed over, I meant thinking you have to be in a romantic relationship in the first place. Not actually stressing while being in one.

So what do I do? I both date a girl (and have been happily for a long time) and play xbox after homework.

Would've been better with middle school relationships. Most high school relationships go at least a few months.

it's just me against the world

So, dating is crucial in High School because you believe that without a relationship one cannot be happy? That's the first time I'e heard a guy say that to be honest. That's how my past two ex's felt about being single.

  • 01.03.2013 8:36 AM PDT

1.) "Crack In Time" - Louder Production Music
2.) "Agressive Sucks" - Moss Landing
3.) Custom Version of "Meet Oscar" - Louder Productions Music
4.) "Behind You Rise" - Distortion Music
5.) "Aurora" - Mark Petrie
6.) "Surge Down - Audio Machine

I've been single for two years now. It doesn't feel that bad to be honest, I mean more free time to myself without having any kind of devotion to another person what so ever.

However, I don't think it is possible for me to get a girlfriend considering the area I'm in. It's like a mix of ghetto/rich people who all have high standards such as:
-Rich
-Good looking
-Plays most popular sports
-Gets involved in drama (sexting, fighting, rumors, etc.)

And honestly, I'm none of those. I play video games, I love sci fi and fiction in general, I know a lot about computers, I play soccer, and I generally just like to stay out of drama. In fact I kind tend to not socialize as much.

And I look like this One and two :/

Overall, it kinda goes both ways in terms of the fault.

Oh yeah, since somebody does not believe what YOU believe; that makes us vapid...
I cannot grasp that what you call "Something happened to nothing, and that nothing became something, and it was smaller than than a period."

That actually sounds like it could be helpful.

However, I think many high-schoolers either aren't as mature as they should be, or don't get the "balance" part of your post.

-blam!- that

Most people in high school aren't mature enough for a fully committed relationship.
And most people in HS don't have anything close to a "fully committed relationship".

Seriously, the social skills you learn in HS will be far more invaluable in life than straight A's.

I agree with the OP, just not to the same extreme. The main thing that is annoying is that everyone here acts like there aren't any people worth dating at their school and I find that very hard to believe. You know damn well you'd be in a relationship if you could.

And everyone saying high schoolers aren't mature enough is wrong. What do you think goes on in a relationship that requires some extreme level of maturity that someone in high school doesn't have? It's just being intimately involved with someone else, it's not as complex as you guys seem to think.

I've talked with a friend who went through life in a similar fashion to how you described and are thankful the military is willing to accept them

Yeah and I smoked weed everyday in high school and didn't worry about my grades at all and still managed to get good grades in all AP classes. Now I'm a contract programmer and going to college for computer science. Point being that there are always exceptions on either side that you point to.

Bro, at my high school, they're all uber-conservative zealots who some of are even creationists, and all of them snore and have no interest in my interests. The only thing that I enjoy is Science in History, and they don't, or no-where near the level I do. I'm just waiting for junior college and college, I highly doubt they're be nearly brain-dead idiots taking a non-required Paleontology class, or be aiming for a career in Paleontology.

The only point of High School is to go to college/whatever you choose after then. Once you get there, all your work in high school is basically gone and useless (gpa, grades, sat/act, etc). Some of the skills you get from dating will help oyu out for the rest of your life.

I never really cared about dating in High school. I thought High School was stupid and I wanted to finish as fast as I could.

In terms of interacting and dating others.

And why not?

  • 01.03.2013 10:13 AM PDT

I think the same, if you date someone you feel good and are more motivated to work. In my experience at least and from what I saw in friends.
