Subject: Why does halo 4 have Cod elements if...

Dear tomorrow, Find some sensibility, Respond to emotion.
Dear Politician, Define sagacity,
All chances of survival are beginning to diminish.
Comedy is no excuse for our own blasphemies.
Mass media, Mass pessimism, Mass Denial.
My television tells me to panic, but I don't think I'll listen.
The apathetic force us to persevere, with their backwards priorities.

Because Call of Duty popularized those elements in 2007.

Good point Mr. Post below me.

Lol, le implying face.
Battlefield 3 was very very mainstreem and had those elements. So was Mass Effect.
You're the delusional one here, m8.

If CoD didn't have them, Halo wouldn't.

It's that simple.

Stop being delusional.
Very very mainstream game? Then CoD is a very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very mainstream game.

Because I'm pretty sure CoD was the first FPS to implement most of these types of things into an FPS game, 343 is following CoD's blueprints.
Unreal Tournament, MNC, Team Fortress, halo CE and all the games had a kill cam-esque death cam for all of them. CoD was no where near the first game to implement these features.

  • 01.02.2013 10:40 PM PDT

Why does a game like Halo, which has always had slower kill times and a higher sense of causality, need kill cams? Seems like a thoughtless change.

  • 01.02.2013 10:40 PM PDT

The human element always mucks things up.

High speed+low health=cod

Because, most people feel the need to justify the fact that they're secretly liking it but, because they need to look loyal to Bungie or because they want to look cool they hate on Halo 4.
Or because the game is complete garbage, and made competetive reach look good.

  • 01.03.2013 3:03 AM PDT

Reach's loadouts were good but Halo 4's loadouts aren't.

It's because blind haters

That's why

  • 01.03.2013 3:44 AM PDT

Everyone will have a different opinion about this. I think the game has strayed from the original feel of halo even more than reach did. But that's MY opinion, you're totally obligated to your own.

I'm 23, I have a house, dog, girlfriend, job and I have no interest in any fanboyism so if you're thinking about sending me a childish PM, don't be surprised when I don't call back.

OR

They might actually not enjoy the game for all of the reasons that they continually list.

  • 01.03.2013 4:24 AM PDT

Because CoD began the mainstream class and killcam perks/abilities nonsense. Thats why. Anyone who says it's blind fanboyism are hypocrites.

  • 01.03.2013 4:26 AM PDT

Rain, and Jazz.
Halo: Tactical

I'm either a fool or an inteligent man, depending on how sleepy or angry I am.

I originaly made an account on 07.27.2007 but I wanted to link my GT and made this account. Don't forget your passwords!

This whole thing is silly. Halo 4 contains many multiplayer elements that anyone can easily compare to CoD. That is a fact.

We have...

Orbital Drops/Kill Streaks
Loadouts/Loadouts
Spartain whatevers/Perks
Tons of stuff to unlock/Tons of stuff to unlock
Highly short encounters/Super short encounters
Poor map design/Poor map design
Unbalanced weapons/Unbalanced weapons
Dynamic Spaws/Random Spawns

1. Orbital Drops add something terrible to the game. You can just stay in one area and still aquire new weapons. There is literally no need to go about the map like in previous games because power weapons are delivered right to you. You can also get overshields and an unbalanced buff in power.
NOTE: Damage boost makes it take one less shot to kill someone, on average. This makes the sniper an insta-kill and the person is unstoppable in a 1v1 match.

2. Halo has never had player-set loadouts before. Halo: Reach had loadouts set by the gametype and it could be balanced properly. Halo 4 let you spawn with whatever weapons you wanted, creating a sort of rock>paper>scissors setup. No longer would you have to hunt down a Plasma Pistol, you can spawn with one and take out vehicles all you liked. The boltshot is also an unnessesary close-range insta-kill.

3. In Halo 4 you can gain the ability to pick up gernades from bodies. This is similar to the Scavenger perk of CoD, but regardless it allows for easy gernades. Regrettably I can't name the rest of the Halo 4 "perks".

4. Halo 4 requires you to unlock nearly everything, this is to the point that it is silly. Fortunately it does not take long to get stuff but it's still strange. Why do I need to unlock emblems now? Why do I need to unlock more guns/perks/etc.?

5. Players can kill eachother much faster than in past games. It's down to around 1.7 ~ 1.2 seconds for plenty of guns, making them very powerful. Hence the jokes about Halo 4 being "OP".

6. The map design is not nearly as good as past games... I understand that this is a weak spot, I don't know enough on this topic.

7. Scar, Damage Boost, Plasma Pistol spawning, Boltshot spawning. 'Nuff said!

8. In Halo 4 if you capture (as in kill everyone nearby) an enemy post there will be no danger of them spawning near you. Basically, if you take the spot where the enemy comes it means little. The enemy will just spawn in YOUR base, starting the encounter all over again. The fact that there wont be any respawning weapons and that vehicles are easy to destroy does not help.

Personally I despise Halo 4 because 343i abandoned the formula that I enjoyed in every prior Halo game. (Yes, Reach tampered with it but it was perfectly fixable in custom games)

They aren't 'Cod' elements, they are elements people associate 'Cod' with.

Halo 4 has short kill times. So does Call of Duty.
Halo 4 has sprinting by default. So does Call of Duty.
Halo 4 has Ornance Drops. Call of Duty has Care Packages.
Halo 4 has tactical and support packages. Call of Duty has perks.
Halo 4 has the Death Cam. Call of Duty has the Kill Cam.
Halo 4 has weapon unlocks. Call of Duty has weapon unlocks.
Halo 4 has the binary rifle. CoD Modern Warfare 2 has the Intervention with Stopping Power and FMJ.
Halo 4 has the Boltshot. CoD Modern Warfare 2 has the akimbo Rangers.

I could go on.

The fact is Halo 4 features a lot of new things that existed previously in Call of Duty. Whether or not other games had those features previously is irrelevant - Call of Duty is the one game that had all those features together and popularised them.

If I asked random people "Which shooter game has a feature that provides players access to abilities or equipment after a set amount of points or kills?", probably 90% of them would say Call of Duty.

Of course, whether these changes make the game bad is an entirely different question. I would say they don't, many others would disagree.

You're kidding yourself if you don't think Halo 4 took elements from the most popular game on Xbox rather than a few other less popular games.

I'm not saying it's good or had but that's obviously what they did.

You're right, they're not CoD elements, necessarily. They're generic shooter elements. That's essentially what Halo is becoming; Generic shooter in space.

"Wake me...when you need me."

CoD fans love obsessing over Halo. Meanwhile, Halo fans are busy playing Halo.

Win/win

CrimsonPandaStudios

Soo if cod does some things good 343 is not allowed to make their own twist and put it in the game. What about theater that was put into black ops after halo did it. We are not talking about mechanics here, but a whole gamemode. Some of the logic on this forum is a totall ripoff from other stupid peoples logic the last decade

Major props to my hommie Sheeef. He made Recon possible for me. Long time recovering emails and passwords. And it was his. lol.

Why are these threads still pooping up?
Shouldn't people already know the issues with Halo 4 by now...?
