Is it a big difference having to pay $200 a month and $230 a month for a car? I have $4k saved up and want a 2008 Cadillac CTS. Avg cost is around 17-19k. How does all this loan approval and stuff work? My parents are going to pay half of the car and will finish paying it off for me when I leave for college. I have no other expenses to pay except the car and the insurance pretty much.

If your parents are paying for it, how is it an expense?

There going to pay like half of it.

You pay the insurance and loan at the end of each month. If you get in a wreck or a ticket then your insurance rate goes up. The loan thing is just paying for a small portion of the total per month instead of all of it at once and will not increase or decrease unless you want it to.

Not worth it imo. If I can't pay cash for a car I can't afford it ya feel. You're living above your means if you cop a luxury car working a minimum wage job

from the bank? As long as you can pay it back plus the interest rates that goes with it. Otherwise you will be in a mess when you can't pay back bank loans. Also the type of jobs don't matter, if anything it's your paycheck that matters.

You shouldn't have a problem getting the loan. But I wouldn't do it. Personally, I don't like using credit like that. Seems a little out of your range to be honest.

I work ~20 hours a week and make $170 a week. How much do you think interest will be? Would a 5 or 6 year pay off plan be better? I don't see how I can't afford $220 a month in car payments and $130 in insurance while making $680 a month. I have no other expenses except personal stuff.

My parents will be co signers and they have perfect credit btw

Agreed. All the changes are good and add variety. Do we really want another Halo 3? Just running around with one gun and no armor abilities? It's good that 343 wants to try something new. Do we really want the same thing for three more games?

Honestly, I would go for the cheapest car I could find, simply because your in college, and all college students are poor. Plus, most of your time is going to be spent on or near the college campus, so it's not like your going to be using your car a lot.

i dont want to have some crap ugly 1999 camry with 1,000,000,000,000,000,00 miles that dodo green color.

On a srs note a cheaper car that I looked into is the 2008 Ford Escape and the 2011 Chevrolet cruze. thoughts?
