After Halo 4's release, I feel like the series is going nowhere but downhill. Its Campaign suffers from extensive linearity in comparison to past games, the custom options are lacking(Which is also a large factor in a good Halo game), and its multiplayer has strayed too far away from what made the original games special. It tries a tad too hard to appeal to the modern FPS market instead of its own core fanbase.

This is all my opinion of course. And I do feel that this franchise is better off being left alone. But we all know that as long as Halo makes significant money, Microsoft won't let it out of its sight.

A bad game doesn't mean the series is out of gas. I don't think it was bad but I'm hoping for an improvement.

Thane and Mordin <3

I would be more than happy if Halo would of ended at a Bungie sequel to 3.

The thing is that future games will most likely follow what Halo 4 has done.

Why Bungie, why would you do this?! - Halo Community

It doesn't take a dedicated player to see how hard Halo is trying to be COD. Its sad, really.

  • 01.02.2013 11:30 PM PDT

Sometimes, I dream about cheese.

That's why Bungie gave a last "-blam!- you" and went to make a way better series.

  • 01.02.2013 11:31 PM PDT

Should have ended with the bang that is Halo 3. Would have made for a legendary game series. Instead, Microsoft has decided it would rather Halo be driven into the ground.

  • 01.02.2013 11:32 PM PDT

The problem is people judge it has a Halo game. Staying true to a games core is important if it's the same company. Bungie did an amazing job with Halo, no question. Yes that includes Reach. The problem with Halo 4 is not Halo 4 it's self. 4 is a good game but it's not Bungie. 343 had every right to make the game they wanted and I for one thought it turned out well. I did not expect nor did I want a copy of Halo 3 (best in the series imo) I wanted a game that I would enjoy. 343 did their thing and it is good.

As you all know Bungie is not 343 and they should not be compared. Just because it's the Halo name does not mean it has to be the same product. A large number of you complain about CoD being the same they those same people complain when Halo isn't. Kinda messed up really.

  • 01.02.2013 11:32 PM PDT

If you're referring to Reach, deadly, I must disagree. There are some things I dislike about it, but it's still a solid Halo game.

And you can't say that about Destiny yet.

Remember, grammar is the difference between; "I helped my uncle Jack off a horse." And "I helped my uncle jack off a horse."
Hyperlinks, you know you want to click 'em

I hate Herplo 4, but I love longevity. Depending on what it is, that is. So actually I'm unsure.

What? People read these?

Maybe. I would have been fine if Halo 3 was conclusion.

Inappropriate. Went a little to far with the butt hole tearing.

So, you're saying Halo should leave?

I think that's kinda rude, OP.

I'd rather it leave than head in the wrong direction and ruin its legacy.

Bobcast is paid in MILF blind dates.

I feel like it's definitely lost some of its magic.

It's Halo, how could it? The universe is too rich to just do away with it.

I reject that. Halo 4's problem is that it's still trying too hard to be Halo. Granted 343 adopted aspects you'd associate with Call of Duty.

Halo's problem is it's never gone through a mainline reinvention. There's no RE4, GTA III, Metroid Prime, or Metal Gear to Metal Gear Solid equivalent. Make Halo something new and people will cherish it. 343 really has to do this because in a world of new consoles, new sci-fi IP from Bungie, and a rush of new IP that's going to come with the next generation, Halo is looking really irrelevant.

  • 01.02.2013 11:38 PM PDT

What are these first person words you speak of?

Teh puma is unsure.

However if you want a decent poll, you might want to compare this one, with another that you can make over at 343's forums. This forum has ever so slowly kicked out most of the Halo 4 supporters.

How can it go in the wrong direction without leaving?

I feel like it's definitely lost some of its magic.

And that's because we've been playing what's basically six Halo games (and an RTS with the brand) using the same formula over an eleven year period. How can it possibly still have the same magic? There's so many of them, it's been so long, and they're releasing every year rather than every three years.

This is what I've been trying to get into the heads of many members of this forum. You're never going to live the magic of past Halo games so stop looking. Once you do that you can find new magic.

  • 01.02.2013 11:40 PM PDT

I agree, the story should've ended with Halo 3. Reach could have been a LOT better too obviously.

You've just done it all now.

I feel the same way about every FPS campaign of the last 6-7 years. It's all been done to death and it would be better to spend the entire budgets of these games on the multiplayer parts rather than spend money on a campaign most people will only play once (or not at all for me).
