the story should've ended with Halo 3.
I hate reading this. There's so much more to dive into. There's so much more than just Chief, and you're done after three? After that lackluster campaign?

I hope to never see an end to Halo games. The universe is just too rich to let it die off.

Should have ended with the bang that is Halo 3. Would have made for a legendary game series. Instead, Microsoft has decided it would rather Halo be driven into the ground.

Halo 3 would have been complained about for an eternity.

AC has the potential to be great. I personally think it needs a reboot someday. AC3 was an enormous letdown. The concept is there, but the execution is poor.

I've got a fan!

Halo, up until Halo 4, had zero character development. Bungie's series felt like it was a constant struggle between MC being a silent protagonist that just spouted one-liners occasionally and giving him subtle emotions and a relationship with Cortana. Now we have a tangible character and a universe to explore. Halo sort of blew its load with Halo 2...by the third level of the game, we knew everything we needed to know about the plot in general: There are multiple Halos, and we need to stop them. With Halo 4, we're in the 'Halo 1' moment where we've discovered something new (the Forerunners) in the already established universe (i.e., the Halos from the first game), and now we get to see where that goes. Halo 5 will really determine the success of the Reclaimer trilogy.

Just wanna add that look how far in advance people start hyping games now, of course their gonna be disappointed.

That's true for some. But I think there's more. What I'm about to say is based on anecdotal evidence so you can take it with a grain of salt but I've been here long enough and paid attention to this franchise enough to think I can get a feel for how people think about Halo. And what I think is people don't feel like it's the juggernaut it once was. Understand the release of Halo 2 and Halo 3 were events built up for three years. Three years we'd have to wait. Now we wait one for a new Halo product. It didn't help that Wars and ODST damaged the brand and Halo 4 left many feeling bitter about a cash in.

Here's a good question I think that's telling. Are people as excited to play Halo 5 on the next generation Xbox as they were to play Halo 3 on, at the time, the next generation Xbox?

(Today is just not my day for spelling. I've had to retype every post. Probably because my stupid keyboard doesn't get any light from my screen. Oh well, here we go.) If you can keep a SUPER LONG series great, then don't stop. The disappointment in Halo 4 to me are multiplayer and spartan ops. Both are fun for a short time then they just get aggravating, and all you can see are the problems that need fixing. Campaign was good, so Im not bashing it. If they can keep the campaign as good and improve multiplayer, it'll save Halo. 343 should have looked at the most popular Halo game(Halo 3) for inspiration instead of the most recent(Reach). Halo 3 was the highest point in the franchise, and if 343 wants to beat out Halo 3, they will look to it for ideas.

Well Halo never was a juggernaut really. When Halo 2 game along there was no competition for it. It stood alone. Halo 3 was built to win simply because people wanted to be Halo but were already behind. Now that other companies have had a chance to put time into a product people are looking at their options.

I love Halo. Absolutely love it, but Spec Ops is better to me. CoD is more fun. Halo 3 may be the best online ever IMO but that was Halo 3, I don't wanna see a remake of it. Sure I like CoD and it's pretty much the same thing but I play that for fun not for something new.

I think people already talking about Halo 5 brings me back to my being over hyped and destined to fail (Destiny ill also have this problem around here)

For those who wish to contact me on Xbox LIVE, my main account is "The 7th Taco", and the one linked with my profile here is only a backup.

I'm still entertained by the series.

After Halo 4's release

That isn't Halo...

What has outstayed it's welcome is the Reach of Duty franchise. It needs to die already so we can get some actual Halo again.

I heard someone say once (paraphrasing here) "Multiflag on Blood Gulch with your friends is what makes Halo, Halo." I GUARANTEE that more people agree with that sentiment than "Getting a 50 in MLG is what makes Halo, Halo." - Oboewan42

As you all know Bungie is not 343 and they should not be compared. Just because it's the Halo name does not mean it has to be the same product.

1. If you don't think they should be compared I think your opinion is void.

2. They're not asking for the same product, they're asking for the evolution of Halo in respect to Halo only, not the evolution of Halo in respect to CoD.

Halo 4 plot in a nutshell:

MC: Am I broken at my core? Am I a human or a machine? If I were given the order to not obey the mission to not obey the mission, what would I do? How is it racecar can be spelled backwards as racecar?

Cortana: I don't know, but sometimes I feel like AIUNVNAVBUISEBVUBSBRVUBSIBBUBVRUSBIVB.

Seriously, all Chief's philosopher dialogue stems from Cortana's "I R CRAZY, U CONVINCED YET? which felt pushed and overdone. It merely pretended to be a complex plot because its dialogue nobody even understands what they are babbling about.

Oh, and the Infinity. LolInfinity.

An opinion void because it's an opinion? Okay the? haha

Halo 4 is nothing like CoD. You can't take minor things and say they took it from this or that. Or nothing will ever be done again and we might as well stop making video games right now.

I like your theory. Halo success was partly due to it being the monopoly of console sci-fi shooters.

What house has a rocket pod, has legs, and has a long narrow barrel that probably shoots something powerful?

Sounds like you're describing the lower half of my body, actually.

You have to understand, 343 are new developers. They aren't going to get things right the first time around. I am just hoping, it goes back to arena type multiplayer, than Call of Duty. Seriously, there is a reason I don't care for Call of Duty, and don't find it fun at all.

I hope they don't start doing yearly releases. I hate, hate when developers do this to their games. I am not forking over money, just to get the next game a year later. I stopped buying Assassins Creed because of it.

Halo 2 was the best Halo game
A7x FoREVer!

Campaign's are still fun, but the multiplayer has gotten old. It has its moments, but then you can't relive those epic BTB moments from the past and the game becomes old.

  • 01.03.2013 1:02 AM PDT

It has in its current form. The first person arena style gameplay got old after Halo 2 or maybe, Halo 3. They need to explore some other genres.

Halo 4 isn't a first person arena style gameplay. I stopped playing it for a reason.

Take me into your heart! Accept me as your savior! Nail me to the -blam!- cross, and let me be reborn!

I can't really say. A part of me feels that Halo 4 should have never been made. Halo 3 was a perfect ending to the series. I'm iffy on Reach still, but that's a different subject. In all honesty, I can't say until I play Halo 5. That will tell me if Halo is done, or it can manage another game.
