A competitive players main goal is to win.
A casuals main goal is to have fun regardless of whether that results in a win or loss.
It has nothing to do with individual skill or knowledge, it has to do with the reason you play.

Final Fantasy X.

Send us a game invite. Preeetttyy Pleeaaaseee.

Trials Evolution, just because I like the song when loading the game before the menu.

The start of Portal 2 was pretty fantastic.

That's the correct quote, thanks! I was just paraphrasing.

Not because it's "arty" or "meaningful" but just because it's -blam!- bad ass as all hell.

Alternatively, I don't think I'll be forgetting Fallout 3's vault intro. It's just so bad it left permanent scarring.

Though the opening to Ocarina Of Time is a very very close second.

Recon Number 54 -
If they are still looking, then while holding the snarl, I let drool start to drip from my mouth, I stand, curl my fingers into claws and with a hunched over crouch, I then make slow and deliberate steps towards them. When I get close enough, I let them hear my agonized and gasping growls and then, if they continue to stare, when I get within arm's reach? I kiss them on the nose, and run away giggling.

Fallout 3

Rain, and Jazz.
Halo: Tactical

I'm either a fool or an inteligent man, depending on how sleepy or angry I am.

I originaly made an account on 07.27.2007 but I wanted to link my GT and made this account. Don't forget your passwords!

Metal Gear Solid's "Doo doo" thing comes to mind.

Perhaps the Mass Effect (1) intro... Yes, that was indeed a good one. It built suspence with that scene where your character looks out into space and the music and text went nicely together.

Halo 2's trial was good too.

He threw down a glove you made the mistake
Of picking it up now you're gone
The choosing of guns or fighting with swords
The choice of weapons is done
He'll tear you apart as soon as you start
You know you don't have a chance.

You mustn't forget Daniel!

Amnesia, right?
Kinda weird going through a game where you share the name with the protagonist.

I know that feeling, Gears of War...

OT: Loved Alan Wake's opening.

  • 01.03.2013 5:52 AM PDT

Borderlands 1 and Assassin's Creed 2 both had really memorable openings to me.

  • 01.03.2013 5:55 AM PDT

Currently studying Computer Science & Software engineering. Hope to work on mobile devices of the future! When a certain game's credits roll, look out for my name! ;)

You will -blam!- bricks when you see what game it is! =)

Quake 2 on PlayStation 1. Being that that was my very first ideo game ever, it permenantly stayed in my mind as the most epic cinematic sequence I ever saw. Its high speed and insane soundtrack pumped blood through me fatser than an electronic rabbit.

GAAAAYYY

The lack of Dead space in this thread saddens me.
Dead Space/Dead Space 2
Arkham city/Arkham Asylum

  • 01.03.2013 6:01 AM PDT

RIP Logan ~B.B.

Shepard getting spaced at the beginning of Mass Effect 2 was probably the best game opening I've seen/played.
