Studies show that men think about sex every 7 seconds. I do my best to eat hotdogs in under 6, just so things don't get weird.

Please allow me to introduce Myself
I'm a man of wealth and taste
I've been around for a long, long year
Stole many a man's soul and faith

This is a talk we should have. There is a very vocal minority that is getting a lot of airtime demanding the end of violence in gaming. Is there anything we as gamers, or the devs and publishers, could do to stop this before it grows legs into a real political movement?

How about we actually enforce the ESRB rating system and keep M rated games out of the hands of 12 year olds...

That's not going to happen. The worst thing that could happen is less mothers buy their kids CoD, which isn't bad.

It's simple. We, uh, kill their leaders.

They want attention. And their reports are more to blame for consecutive shootings than any video game.

Unsuccessfully trying to bring science and reason to The Flood...

I'm not all that worried. I'm way older than any of the age restrictions they can impose on entertainment products, and I can't see them out right banning a whole section of the industry without banning violent films, music and other such mediums.

Which I don't think will ever happen, no matter how many stupid people get air time.

Seriously. It takes a lot to get through to me, but this is something that would piss me the hell off. Video games bring in more money than just about any other entertainment industry.

How would you do that? You have parents and older people that buy M rated games for younger kids. There's nothing the ESRB can do once that person buys the game.

It's just politics, and politicians love to capitalize on fear. Besides, aren't these the same Bible-Belters that just love starting holy wars? Hell, a lot of the parents of the kids who died at Columbine worked in a munitions plant...

I guess what I'm trying to say is there's nothing we can do, there's nothing to be done, humans won't give up violence, and no one is innocent.

Make a movement to end violent media coverage. Media wants to feed lies to people who end violent video games under the idea that it's exposing people to violence? Why not do the same for the media?

Or we can just kill the Batman.

If someone tries to march into my house and take my games, I would shoot them.

Better yet, I would stab them straight through the skull with one of my large combat knives just to see if there is a sudden "BAN ALL KNIVES" thing afterwards.

This.

Ever notice all the studies about the effects of violent content are targeted at people outside the specified age range? (eg CoD playing 12 - 16 Y/Os).

I don't think so haha. There's not really a strong argument to keep violent video games.
