Agreed. All the changes are good and add variety. Do we really want another Halo 3? Just running around with one gun and no armor abilities? It's good that 343 wants to try something new. Do we really want the same thing for three more games?

It's simple.

We take the blame, and push it somewhere else!

preferably the NRA

Studies show that men think about sex every 7 seconds. I do my best to eat hotdogs in under 6, just so things don't get weird.

You kind of need to play the ESRB by ear. It all comes down to parenting. Some kids are more mature than others and will be effected significantly less than others by video games. But video games do not cause shootings. Video games have been shown to lessen aggression anyway.

Well.... we could claim first amendment.
Do you really think that is applicable?

I don't think so haha. There's not really a strong argument to keep violent video games.

If people are screaming 2nd amendment to keep their guns. Then 1st amendment should be fine. Legally speaking.

All that is needed for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.

Violent video games are not the cause of violence.

Our fellow nations are playing the same exact video games, and how many gun murders do they have? A helluva lot less than we do.

We need to stop directing our blame towards things of no relevance, knowing perfectly well that the blame does not belong there.

Also, watch Bowling for Columbine. Its a real eye-opener.

Now you guys know exactly how firearm owners feel whenever some whackjob goes nuts with a gun and it becomes a witch-hunt for us.

Like nearly everything in the Constitution, it all comes down to a Supreme Court Case. In this instance its Brown.

California wanted to ban the sale of violent video games to minors. The industry sued, won, and California took it to the US Supreme Court. They sided with the Industry, in a 5-2 decision.

If the movement gathers enough support, this would be the logical end game. If they can get that decision overturned, then they could ban whatever they wanted.

Its happened before. Largely, the battle will be through public opinion. Scenes like 'No Russian' or pretty much the entire GTA franchise will be hauled out into the media, and scrutinized. Bad science and made up facts will be how its done. How do you think the average person would react when MSNBC, Fox and CNN starts showing scenes from Sandy Hook and Columbine with 'No Russian' on the other panel?

  • 01.03.2013 12:22 PM PDT

I am the God Emprah of Mankind.

Deal with it.

What possible reason could they give to ban violent games? If they did, they may as well ban violent movies, books, and any other means of expression.

That's true about how the public would act. But in the end like you said the supreme court. And by law video games would be protected. It's like those Westboro protesters that are allowed to do what they do because they are protected by law.

Okay, does it really even matter if minors cannot purchase videogames? I live in California and if this law were to pass, it would not really bother me, and I don't see any reason why it would bother any of you. Can't you just ultimately go in the store with your parents, a grandparent or older sibling and have them buy the game for you with your money?

If the anti-violent videogame movement grows that means that we gamers must resort to violence to stop it. That'll learn 'em.

The WBC is protected by the 1st Amendment on its face. Games are protected by a single court case. That's the difference. CA wanted to have violent games counted as obscenity, which would allow them to be controlled. If that case is overturned, then they could be banned outright.

OP - You're a dumbass with the reading comprehension skills of a second grader.

Can someone tell me what's wrong with these two, this made me LOL hard.

I think that parents with kids under 17 should not be able to buy M rated video games. When I worked at Gamestop, I had to deal with so many spoiled kids demanding their parents for a video game they wanted.

ESRB is there for a reason. Parents need to read that.

Also, if it does become a movement, internet cafes will be this time's speakeasies.

How about we actually enforce the ESRB rating system and keep M rated games out of the hands of 12 year olds...

So parents with kids under 17 can't play Halo, CoD, Borderlands, etc?

Are you out of your mind?

Video games aren't even the problem in the first place.

I'll just be repeating what everyone else is saying. The violent games aren't helping the situation of excessive violence in their community. Getting rid of them is a logical step.

If the movement grows, then we might see some actual interesting games instead of more CoD/Halo clones.

Well, we could start by responding calmly, rationally, and maturely. That way, we can take the wind out of the sails of the people who say that gamers are impulsive and immature.
