What say you, Flood? Is there an answer to each and every question?

I, for one, resent the modern view that everything is subjective. I mean, the universe doesn't just run on magic. It has definite things about it which we can understand. But I just have to grit my teeth and bare with it when people agree that something like right or wrong is subjective. Nonetheless, I cannot say that I know any truth about goodness or badness itself.

Don't punch a British kid, the queen'll come after you.

I am certain that there is truth, whether we can ever truly know it is another matter.

I think the closest we get to truth is in the field of mathematics but even then it is based upon unprovable axioms.

Science is knowledge through observation. Where does that take us when we find that our senses lie to us?

It's a very old question. I suggest you look up what science actually is before you go blindly worshiping it. I mean, it's essentially the opposite of maths.

Please stop complaining about the 'death of a loved one' it's my job. They probably deserved it anyways. Here's a warning, if you keep making pentagrams out of the neighbors livestock I will personally come to your house and kill everyone you love. Now leave me alone, I got to get back to work.

Hmm. If you think the axioms are unprovable, then how can you be sure of anything?

That's kind of my point.

Axioms cover the most fundamental concepts of mathematics from which everything follows. They are generally held to be self evident proofs that are to be accepted without controversy.

e.g. 1=1 or more generally A=A and another being A=/=A' (where A' is anything but A)

You would look at those and assume that they are obviously true but if you think about it, can they really be proven without reference to themselves? If not then how can you be 100% sure of them and everything that follows from them.

I suppose I view maths as the most "truthful" field of knowledge because of how fundamental the starting assumptions are.

Your average nice guy on The Flood.... D: ..... WAIT A MINUTE....

I believe that we can always find the truth to something, but as the thing in question becomes more complex, it becomes harder to find the truth, and opinions become founded on increasing uncertainty. For instance, math and science, while complex, can be easily proven because they are concrete, or at least become less uncertain over time. Human nature, meanwhile, is exceedingly complex, which is why people still argue over how society should function. This makes me think that we can approach the truth for all things, but we can never know the truth to everything. There will always be questions.

Halo: Tactical

I'm either a fool or an inteligent man, depending on how sleepy or angry I am.

I originaly made an account on 07.27.2007 but I wanted to link my GT and made this account. Don't forget your passwords!

The truth is what happened. Each witness to an event may have seen parts of it, but for every single thing there is a "truth". That truth is what exactly happened and we can't always know that. Infact, we hardly ever know the whole truth outside of a movie or other works of fiction.

As for the whole thing about that thing that means 1=1, A=A, etc. That is an agreed upon truth and without mass agreement then there would be no language.

I broke one of the cords for my X11s because I couldn't get past the final American course in Doritos Crash Course.

The problem with truth is that its mainly expressed in words. Words are a human invention, a sound.
A sound can not always represent something accuratley.
If you explain something using words it means an idea or event has been kind of formated, like recording a video to mp4. Its going to lose quality so can never be absolute truth. Even the word truth itself.
