And who do you think you are to call the republicans greedy? And Obama can't serve three terms.

>republicans
>not greedy

good one

No we're not greedy. We just don't want to support lazy people.

Republican politicians take thousands (if not millions) of dollars from corporate lobbyists and vote according to the wishes of multinational corporations, even if that means they sacrifice their ideology.

Republicans cannot claim to be in favor of a small government while they continue the war on drugs, advocate (and cause) wars, pass laws like the patriot act, which allows for indefinite detention of suspected terrorists without a trial by jury, etc.

I can go on, but it should be clear to anyone who is politically savvy that the Republican Party is only in favor of "small government" if they will either have to pay less taxes or they will get more money from high level donors. The entire republican party is orchestrated and run not by the desire to benefit the country, but to make more money for themselves and big businesses.

Yet, they pay less than we do

Are you serious? They pay a lot more than you. A smaller percentage of a lot of money is still a larger sum than a big percentage from a small amount of money.

A millionaire who is taxed 10 percent is still paying six figure taxes.
So why cant they pay the same %?
Let's compare.

let's assume everyone is taxed at 10%.

An income of $300,000 will have $270,000 left over to take care of his family.

An income of $30,000 will have $27,000 left over to take care of his family.

Do you see why rich people should be taxed more, and poorer people should be taxed less?

So because you can take more money from him that's a valid reason to? No. That's greed at it's finest.

Alright then. What's the highest tax bracket right now? 35%? Let's just tax everyone at 35% and call it a day.

Why tax a guy that's struggling to support his family, rather than the guy that has a huge surplus and could easily live in comfort

Of course it's greedy. It's called "society". We all live here together and we depend on eachother. We should take care of eachother in order to prosper. That includes letting poorer people have some more money at the end of the month to take care of their families. Otherwise, poor people will just get poorer, and we all lose when that happens.

Totally off topic, and just throwing it out there for fun, but democrats were the ones who originally supported slavery in the 19th century.

What's your point? They realized the errors of their ways and we live fine without slaves these days.

Liberals are traditionally about progression and equality, whereas conservatives are traditionally about maintaining the status quo.

Taxing the rich more isn't taking care of each other. It's stripping the money from the rich unnecessarily when they already support people well enough.

Well, the Democrats used to be the conservative bunch, while Republicans used to be the liberal bunch. They have changed places, indeed.

I agree. Both parties are tools of the rich and powerful.

However, that's not what I was responding to. I was responding to the statement that Republicans are not greedy, which is patently absurd.

Equality?

Then why do they give minorities more benefits than me.
Why do they want to tax me more?
Why do they want to give my money to people who dont work?

Sounds equal

I entirely disagree; it's not NEEDLESSLY stripping the rich of their wealth. That money is put to use by taking care of people who otherwise can't.

This isn't a valid argument. You're telling me that because this guy didn't make it in the world, we have to penalize, in other words, take from this guy who did succeed?

Would you rather they just die? How can you support yourself and possibly a family with no money?

If they are for equality, then why are rich taxed more? That is not equal to what the lower and middle classes pay. Also I don't think driving our country into debt with the insane spending is putting us ahead.
