Why bother outing his name though and calling him an -blam!-? By hiding your personal feelings towards this person and posting the text, you're more likely to get responses that aren't blinded by a hatred towards its author.

Who the author is is important in judging the statement for some, and I'm allowed to express my opinion. If you are not going to discuss the statement, please refrain from derailing the thread further.

I'm not sure if they're homeless but, he appears to be:

trying to hire recent vets
Which is mostly likely more than what anyone in this thread is doing for them.

Don't worry, you're still your mom's favorite Bnet member.

The awful, sickening moment when you realize you agree with Michael Moore.

I speak for myself, but each thing that was listed (that he says no one does) is something I have done and still try to do. With the exception of going up to military personnel in uniform and thanking them. I've never done that and feel it's forced and disingenuous.

Remember when McDonalds discontinued the Super Size drinks and fries because of the Super Size me movie?

Large drinks at McDonalds in my area have been a $1 for the longest time now.

Agreed.

I'm just not a fan of generalizing groups of people all under one idea because of a smaller group of people. Add in Michael Moore and I got a little aggravated.

Seems I agree with him. Begrudgingly. :|

All that is needed for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.

Moore is spot on when it comes to the gun culture in America, but needs to read a little more about foreign affairs.

"Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened."

I agree with the revulsion that "liars" are proclaiming their "support" for the US troops, but just because you don't actually do anything for our soldiers doesn't mean you don't "support" them.

Homeless vets...wonder why no one helps them? Because of the stereotypical homeless fellow who takes the hand-outs and buy some variant of depressant, drug, or alcohol; and you know what, I don't blame people for not giving hand-outs. No one goes around asking "have you served in the military?"

The -blam!- problem. I agree that forcing yourself upon someone is an atrocious and heinous crime, but what can average people do, lynch or maim the guilty? Its like any other crime, no one cares unless its their problem.

After reading and analyzing this, it seems like Moore needs to do a bit more understanding/comprehension than throwing around slander and negativity.

My two cents, anyway.

Glory and fame, blood is our name!
Souls full of thunder, hearts of steel!
Killers of men, a warrior's friend!
Sworn to avenge our fallen brothers!
Sons of the gods, today we shall die.
Open Valhalla's door!
Let the battle begin, with swords in the wind! Hail Gods of War!

Can't say I agree with the affirmative action thing for vets. I dislike AA altogether, but veterans have resources available to them already (VA, having your branch pay for school) I agree with hiring vets, but over someone else JUST BECAUSE they're a vet? No.

I remember you saying that.

Well, let me express a formal invitation to go shooting. You don't need to bring anything but your self. I will supply my two guns, ammo, and the ride to get to the range.

The people who rage on this clearly haven't read it. As much as I disagree with MM, I have no problem with his calling out our hypocracy. He's completely correct. What good is saying you support the troops when you do nothing to back it up?

Try reading before you react. MM for once wrote something that nearly everyone could agree with. Stop saying you support the troops and actually support them.

That's bias, basically author fanboyism, which is the oppoisite of an objective, clear minded decision on the points in the post. You may be allowed to post your opinion, but just because you're technically allowed to do something doesn't mean you should.

All that matters is the meat of the post, as you said. Everything else--including your opinion of the man--is irrelevant and only detracts from the meat of said post by drawing attention away from it.

Not in the way people mean. When you say you support the troops, what have you done to support them?

I think he's right.

Saying "I support the troops" and then leaving it at that is the same thing as Tweeting "Stop Kony" or whatever the cause du jour is and then claiming to have "helped".

If you want to get down to brass tacks, similar things could be said about pretty much any show of support for anything. If the criteria requires an individual to support a thing in every aspect of their being, then very few people show support of anything.

I trust people to be able to see objective truth among bias. Failing to cite the author would be deceptive because it masks motive behind the statement, and considering this is a forum, not an essay, I see no reason to not voice my opinion (which, I'm sure you've seen, is that of agreement).

Those that refuse to read the statement because of the author have every right to do so, and their willful ignorance will be apparent in their posts.
